  • Two other odd things I was thinking about the other day...

I was at a high school football game, and it was homecoming.

Well, for some reason, they decided that "Unchained Melody" is a good song to use for announcing the "homecoming court" and then crowning the queen.

"Unchained Melody" seems like an odd song to use for that.

Also, in the same "homecoming queen" vein, the previous year's queen is the one who crowns the current year's queen. I thought to myself that it would also be weird if the previous year's queen showed up, at like 8 months pregnant, to crown the current queen...

    I have weird thoughts sometimes.

Many people pick songs based on how they sound, or what they THINK they're about A good example of this is using U2's "One" for weddings. When Bono was asked about that, he was incredulous, and stated that the song was about two people breaking up.

Another good example is James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" as the first dance at weddings; a friend who's a DJ said that many times the happy couple would be in the middle of their first dance and singing along to the words, then he'd see them realise exactly what the song was about...

In brief: He was high as a kite at a Tube station and he saw his ex in the distance with her new boyfriend, who he didn't know existed. Their eyes met, he lived a lifetime in that moment, then she was gone and he hasn't seen her since.

I have a cousin who did that once. Except the song was "Lips of an Angel"...

I think he eventually figured out what the song was about.
