I left the office around 10 minutes to 6:00 and was thinking of going to my retail job to pick up a few things. I didn't want to fight the kids-out-of-school traffic so I went to the dollar store, which is in the mall circle on the outer edge right by a main street I'd take home. If anything had happened I'd not have even been the wiser. Anyway, I took about a half hour and came home.
Then I logged on to Twitter to see an update from the bus company. I am driving again, but I still follow them. They said due to an "incident" at the mall there would be no service around there the rest of the night. I googled it and found that a young man was suicidal and had a gun and his family notified police he might be in the mall. It was evacuated between 6:00 and 7:00. No one knows where this man is. People interviewed said they were in lock-down in the backs of stores until the all-clear. I feel bad for any stranded bus riders; there are 3 routes that go through the mall, one that runs by my office job and goes to another city. I'd have been stranded at the office had I not had a car. If I were working the retail job without my car I would've been stranded there.
And I'm concerned for this man's family. They must be sick with grief and worry.
