  • Hey Truckers...

You guys ever listen to any "Trucking" songs?

I know Junior Brown has the song "Semi Crazy", and Dale Watson did a full album called "The Truckin' Sessions" (or something like that), and I think C. W. McCall did several truckin' songs.

Speaking of trucks...how about these guys?

I may or may not have a thing for young Kris Kristofferson.

Hell, I bought one CD specifically because it had Convoy on it. It's a fun song.

I like the original C. W. McCall version better, and the sequel.

Convoy and Round The World With Rubber Duck

Here are some classic trucking songs:

            Phantom 309

            Giddy Up Go

            East Bound and Down

            Classified

            Roll On 18 Wheeler

            Six Days On The Road

            Give Me 40 Acres

            I'm A Truck

            Tombstone Every Mile

            Wolf Creek Pass

Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses

            Freightliner Fever

            Girl On The Billboard

Looking at the World Through a Windshield

There's also Dale Watson's "The Truckin' Sessions" Trilogy...

Im surprised that no one mentioned Teddy Bear, or Teddy Bears last ride.

I would link them, but the mere notion that either of those songs may or may not play in my presence causes me to boohoo like a little baby, so no.

Don't forget "Little Joe". It and "Teddy Bear's Last Ride" are mutually exclusive (LJ has in its backstory Teddy Bear getting an operation that lets him walk again, and he grows up to be a trucker, TBLR has him dying as a child). Since both "Teddy Bear" and "Little Joe" are by Red Sovine, and "Teddy Bear's Last Ride" isn't, I'd consider "Little Joe" to be the canonical sequel to "Teddy Bear".

To piggyback (heh...) off of this thread, I noticed something the other day about flat-bed trailers. They seem to have a slight "arc" to them. I'm guessing there's a reason for it (weight distribution or something), but it seemed odd to me when I noticed it.

If you look at the same flat bed when it is loaded, the arch is much reduced or even gone. The frame of the trailer does flex.
