What a curious little ad...

Whilst typing away on here,the little ad at the bottom of the screen is inviting me to 'become a bottler or distributor of Royal Crown Cola'.
I would,but I've never heard of you and your advert looks like it comes from 1957...

Ah, RC Cola. My family would but it on occasion when I was younger, but we stopped when we realized it gave my dad gas.

It's the lesser-known third party in the Coke vs Pepsi battle.

That's interesting. RC has been around quite a long time, but I don't know if they distribute in your neck of the woods. OTOH, you may be the first if you sign up!

As of a few years ago, Royal Crown was the #3 cola brand in the U.S. It's found mainly in "redneck" areas, and tends to use nostalgia in its ads. If you're outside the Southern U.S. (I have seen it in Michigan, but then again that's one state where you can leave the U.S. heading southbound), I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it.

The Wife tells the story of her high school band attending the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. They were housed in a college dormitory. The only soda they could find in the area was RC. So a couple of them split the cost on a flat. With all the kids in the dorm, the ice machines could not keep up. They had to drink the RC worm.

35 years later, she still refuses to touch the stuff.

I guess that means you can find it in Canada.

As for using "vintage-style" ads...Yeah, that's par for the course for RC.

It's still readily available down heah -- probably proving wolfie's point -- It used to be the primary drink available at the "Po' Folks" restaurant chain, where it was served in mason jar glasses. It's utterly wonderful when served ice cold.

RC Cola (and Diet Rite) used to be available in the northeast as well. I remember drinking it as a kid, and seeing 12-packs of it at both Market Basket and Wal-Mart for many years. No idea if there are any local stores which carry it anymore, which is a shame. It goes pretty good with a Moon Pie, too..........

The Arby's I worked at back in the early 90s served RC Cola. I really liked Cherry RC, as it used actual cherry syrup. I don't know if they still make it; I can't find any around here.

Huh, interesting since its distributed by Doctor Pepper here in STL, and Cott is responsible for our store brand, so you'd think we'd handle it. Sounds like they might be up to something interesting, though I'm not sure what.

Now if only they'd bring back Royal Crown Draft...

RC Cola is still found here in my neck of the woods. Some of our Litter Box stores carry it, others don't (depends on that particular location's planogram layout.)

I've heard my mom many a time talk about going to the mom and pop store that was across the road from the farm her family lived on and her dad would get her an RC Cola and a Moon Pie as a treat.

Sadly, that little store in the forks of the road (where Edgefield Road ran into Highway 68) is long gone now and so is the farm (last few out buildings were torn down fall before last for road construction of the Urban Loop.)

Around 6 months ago, I bought a couple 2 litre bottles at a truck stop in Reed City, MI (the one beside the Burger King). Also saw it at a truck stop in Grand Rapids, MI.

All this talk about RC Cola and no one has mentioned how great they are with moon pies. Having an RC Cola and a moon pie was a tradition in my southern upbringing.
