  • Yikes, ice!

So, I know I can't say much because our weather here isn't as scary as a lot of places. (Sup, Portland, you okay?) But it has been a bit weird, we've gotten more snow than usual already and it snowed again. Then it rained all day yesterday and again today. But the temperature's hovering around freezing. So there's super fun icicles. I ran out to buy cat food, and there was a truck with a ladder rack, and it had probably 4" to 5" icicles completely covering it. Plus, if you drive just a couple miles north, it's cold enough that it's been snowing. Thankfully I didn't need to drive up there, but I saw enough cars with 6 to 8 inches of snow on the roof to know it's not just a dusting like we got here.

I wanted to get cat food now, because it looks like we'll be getting more snow in the next few days, how much depends on which weather outlet you believe. Oh, now we have a high wind watch in addition to the winter weather advisory. I wish I had money to spend on rum... Oh well, regular hot chocolate will have to do. At least if the power goes out I still will have heat and be able to cook, yay for non-electric natural gas furnace and stove.

I can deal with snow but not ice. Well, here the snow has turned to ice. I was fine, back-wise, for most of the day. I was even fine at work and then at home when hauling laundry downstairs and across the parking lot. But my foot slipped on the ice a while ago when I was taking the recycling and garbage out. All the muscles seized and now I'm sore. I hate going outside. The management does a poor job of plowing. They don't salt after.

The other day I stood up, and the outer side of my foot must have fallen asleep, so I rolled my ankle... I managed not to drop my cat, who's probably why my foot fell asleep in the first place. The funny part is that for days afterward I couldn't figure out why my food hurt, like I had pulled a muscle. Eventually I remembered falling down, and felt silly.

They said it would warm up and rain last night and today, until it turns back into snow later this afternoon. Instead it froze last night and snowed this morning. It's slowly melting, which will be awesome later as it re-freezes into slabs of ice. Yaaay.
