  • The NCAA Basketball Tournament = Increase in "the snip"...

    At least in the U.S.

Apparently, there is a roughly 10% increase in men getting vasectomies in March in the U.S. -- during the NCAA Basketball tournament.

Why? Because you're supposed to take it easy for a couple of days afterward, and I guess a lot men want to just sit on the couch with ice on "the boys" and watch College Basketball all day...so if they're going to get "the snip", they do it during the tournament, so that they can sit around all day and watch college hoops.

OK maybe I could see that IF you are a guy that is that interested in sports like basketball (which I am not interested) BUT is there a similar increase in the snip snip during baseball or football or NBA basketball playoffs/finals as the games are spaced about the same as college basketball "March Madness"??

I'm not sure there is. Most of the articles I've seen are about the NCAA tournament.

I think I know why, though.

With regard to the other sports you mention, there's (generally) only one game per day. During the NCAA basketball tournament, there are multiple games on the same day.

For example, today (March 17th) alone, there are 16 or so games spread across about four channels. And they start at 11:15 AM Central time, and the last game starts at 8:57 PM.

And each game is two hours or so, I think...

One of the Radio DJs I listen to(Bob from the Bob and Tom Show) had it planned out when did his. IIRC it was while Tournament was going on. He would set in his easy chair, and placed a cooler of beers next to him. He would keep the beer bottle as a 'ice pack' for the sore area, then He would sip on the beer while watching the games. When it beer bottle was empty, it was time for a new 'ice pack'.

I read an article also that three guys in California (all buddies) went down the same day and got the snippy-snip done...so they could all watch basketball together.

I'm not a guy or even into this March Madness crap but why not take advantage of the situation? Better to take the time off instead of wasting time at your actual job.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.
