  • Don't let the "pound of gold vs pound of feathers" fool you!

One actually does weigh more than the other!

    https://www.mygemologist.com/learn/j...g-gold-weight/

1 pound of feathers (using Avoirdupois ounces, approx 28.34 grams) weighs approximately 453.59 grams, using 16 Avoirdupois ounces per pound.

Gold, on the other hand, uses Troy ounces (approx 31.1 grams). But a Troy pound is 12 Troy ounces.

So a pound of gold is 373.24 grams.

    So there ya go...

Kind of invalidates that to use different weight systems, though.

Not really--the different systems are the whole point...
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers
