I decided I must get at least a bit of gardening done tonight, so attacked a small plot next to the back yard steps and managed to clear it of 99% of the weeds.

At one point I noticed a small nondescript bug hovering nearby ... and then its butt lit up.

Many times, while driving at night, I'd see greenish flashes and wonder if something was wrong with my eyes (e.g. "seeing stars"). Invariably I'd self-diagnose with "photura" when a smear of the same shade of green appeared on my windshield.

Note: "photura" is the family name for fireflies.
