I offer you my condolences. I lost my dad back in February, so I understand what you're going through.

I'm so sorry! I lost my mom in 2006, it still feels like yesterday! It's so hard, it hurts, your whole world changes.

I will be thinking of you and your family, and hope you find peace.

Cancer sucks. Lost my dad to it a few years ago. Lost a friend to it two weeks ago.

It's one of those watershed moments. Afterwards, everything is "before" or "after".

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Don't be surprised by anything you feel. You can be going through the day, not thinking of anything in particular, and suddenly a wave of grief knocks you flat. You'll find yourself laughing or smiling, then feeling guilty because you were having a good time. The people around you will walk on eggshells for a little while, then assume that because you're out of bed, dressed, and walking around, you've recovered fully.

Grief never leaves. It just changes form.
