    ...But THREE tornadoes.

Yes. We had three baby tornadoes here on Thursday July 20. Two were EF1 and one was an EF2.

Fortunately, there were no deaths, and no injuries reported. Most people were indoors when the winds came down.

The county fairgrounds took some damage - the fair opens in less than three weeks - and a lot of trees and branches came down in several suburban towns. Also some damaged roofs, garages, sheds, etc. About 100 cars at the fairgrounds had their windows blown out

Crazy weather, but we are very, very lucky. This was nothing compared to what happens in the Midwest.

I'm in the midwest but I certainly wouldn't want the windows blown out my car! I don't even know if insurance would cover that.

Good question. We get the occasional funnel cloud here, and have had a few small tornadoes in the past (one back in the 80s took the roof off of a restaurant). But it's still not a common thing around here and I don't know if people's car insurance covers that.

They lost a lot of big trees in the area around the fairgrounds, and on the grounds themselves. It's just amazing that no one was hurt. There were workmen on the casino roof who had to scramble to get off there when stuff starting flying, there's a horse show going on there this week, and the fair people were starting to set things up for the fair next month. This all happened between noon and 1-1:30 pm so most people in that area were not at home or were indoors (it's been raining like a SOB too).

Unless bought for a specific thing, most insurance won't cover an 'act of god'. Flood insurance, etc is normally sold separately. However, in an area not known for such acts of god, insurances might cover it. Get out your policy and go over it with a fine toothed comb.

Comprehensive and Collision will usually covers that kind of damage. Check with you insurance company to be sure.

My insurance covers it, but I live in a place that almost never has tornadoes (so rare that people here don't know why a green sky is a problem.) Best thing you can do is talk to your agent and see if it's covered.
