Hey everyone. Anybody hear from Jester? Hurricane Irma hit Key West about two hours ago as of the time I posted this, and I know he has family in Arizona so I assume he went to visit them but if anybody knows anything, please post. Thanks.

He evacuted and is heading to NOLA.

Based on aerial photography, his apartment appears to be undamaged. Another building in his complex lost part of its roof.
Also, here's the link to what Key West, and surrounding Keys look like after the storm. Key West seems relatively undamaged.

I was worried about him. I'm glad he's okay.
Hope all the people in Key West that are important to him are too.
A lot of islands have been hit hard this year.

No joke. A couple of work colleagues just got back after their holiday in Cuba. They were evacuated twice, and the hotel where they sheltered from the storm had part of its roof ripped off. The Weather Channel had some before & after satellite photos of the eastern Caribbean. Horrible. Antigua evacuated ALL of the residents of Barbuda before Jose hit. There was almost nothing left standing.Comment

Jester got a picture today of his place - windows and doors are in place, as long as the roof didn't leak, he's in good shape when he can get home. That's the $64,000 question - when can he go home? 20% of Key west has electricity, but still no sewer, and limited water, because of so many leaks in the system from falling trees. Nobody, except for repair services are being let in yet.
One of my favorite places there - the VFW lost a good chunk of its roof. It's going to take a long time for the island to recover, but it will rise up again.
