  • So a guy followed me up the stairs to my apartment

I had the long, drawn-out story all typed up when my laptop battery died. Basically, I was coming up the walkway when he tried to talk to me. I didn't ignore him because I genuinely thought he needed help. It took a second before I realized he was drunk. The situation involved him following me up twice because the first time I was going to try to get inside quickly but I had a bunch of stuff in my hands and knew I couldn't so I locked my door and went down and called 911. He went off toward the property behind mine so I thought I was ok but he doubled back and I ran up the stairs and got in as quick as I could the second time. He was like a ninja, just right there at the door when I closed and locked it. I was asked to go out and meet the officer and the dude followed me down and disappeared.

I've been applying for and trying to qualify for the apartment I want but I was kind of on the fence about it. I had just gone out tonight to pray about that and asked for an answer. I wonder if this is it? Story on the apartment: http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...d.php?t=118957

Yikes! Yup, you need out of that place (especially now that this random drunk dude knows where you live, that way lies badness). I hope you were able to file some sort of police report.

Get out of that place as soon as possible.

A long time ago when I lived in a sketchy area the guy beneath me was almost certainly a drug dealer. So one day he wasn't home and one of his customers was hanging out by his door. He tries to talk to me and follow me up the stairs. I just ignored him and said something noncommittal like "hey, gotta go now..." Sometimes others had tried to talk to me but this was the only one who started up the stairs. My door was the only one there. Moved out of that place not too long after.

I hope you get into a better place.

I used to take late-night walks when I had my old apartment in the city. No one ever gave me any trouble, except for one weirdo. I was finishing up my walk any making my way back, when I became aware of someone who seemed to be following me, but was also trying to keep his distance so that it wouldn't be too obvious. Every turn I made, he followed, and if I picked up my pace, he did the same.

I was afraid to just start running, because I didn't know what he would do. I tried not to make my destination obvious, but when I got to my front door, I quickly pulled out my keys, opened the outer door, and locked it behind me, and then unlocked the door to my apartment. I didn't turn on any lights, because I didn't want him to know which apartment was mine. I peeked out the window, and saw him peek into the outer door, and then walk away. Thankfully, I never saw him again.

MadMike's story reminds me of this one time at our old house. My sis and I were downstairs watching TV late one night when someone knocked on our front door. It was close to midnight and we weren't about to open it. I looked out the window; the porch light was off, but I could just make out a woman standing on our front porch, with a little kid. It couldn't possibly be anyone we knew, so we kept quiet (we already had the lights out, only the TV on). Took quite a while for her to go away.

We decided it was probably a local panhandler that we'd seen around the area lately, but why she came to OUR house at almost midnight? We had no idea.

There was also this weird dude that had stopped to talk to my brother one day while he was out front working on his car. He seemed friendly, and they talked about cars for a while, and then the guy left. Later that night - again this was around midnight - he shows up at our front door. From an upstairs window, I asked who's there and what do you want? He claims he brought a car part "for the guy downstairs". He was not nasty but VERY pushy about it. I said he's asleep, leave it in the mailbox. Went back n forth a few times and he finally left in a car that took off so fast, the driver must have been waiting to roll.

This same idiot a few days later stole my brother's car. I'm just really, really glad we never opened the door that night.
