He was a good, kind man who did not deserve such an end. He was sick and on a ventilator for a week, rallied momentarily, then relapsed, ending up with kidney failure and a lethal stroke on top of the virus.
Due to the pandemic, there won't be a funeral or memorial. He'll be cremated, and family cannot get together for safety reasons. I'm several states away, and my sister-in-law told me that it was too dangerous for me to head over there.
There are a lot of people who think this virus is a hoax, or overblown. It's not. It's real, it's deadly, and it causes all kinds of damage and health problems even to those who survive it. Please, take precautions. Wear masks, stay six feet apart from others, wash up frequently. And be patient; it may take a year or more to find a vaccine and/or cure.
