Amazon makes it easier to deal with a company that sends you a shoddy product.
I got confused and ordered something off another website because it was a replacement for something I'd gotten 7 years ago and the manufacturer names are very similar. The product is really sub-par so I decided to return it after I realized what company I actually needed to order from (which can be bought via catalog if you pay for shipping or free shipping and returns with Prime). I had to wait 2 days for return approval.
I looked up post offices and the one on Franklin St. in the next town closed at 1:30. I wouldn't make it; it was a 20 minute drive. (My town is small enough that it's common practice to do business up there--same stores but better selection, better hours. Our Aldi here doesn't even sell wine and all the ones up there do.) Well, I could go to the postal annex in the gas station in my town 2 minutes from me, since it closed at 3:00. The young man at the counter couldn't get the label I'd printed to scan but figured out the postage, though he couldn't get it to print a label at all. Maybe he was new; idk.
So I was off to drive the 20 minutes since I want this done now. I looked again to confirm before I left and it said the post office on Franklin closed at 3:00, not 1:30. Huh; I couldn't figure why I'd seen 1:30 but OK. My route ran through our downtown and on a hunch, I detoured to our main P.O. Maybe it was open today, though I didn't remember seeing that online. And here's the kicker: the 1:30 time was for ours and it, too, is on Franklin St. So THAT'S why I saw two times. Well, fortunately even though it was technically closed, I could get in the lobby to do the kiosk thing so I got the package off in the mail.
Yes, most of this is due to my misunderstanding, but it still would've been easier to drop the items off at the local Kohl's and had them be returned without a shipping charge, had they been ordered via Prime. It's worth the Prime membership to me to have the points and shipping ease. Because I'm dumb sometimes.
