I loved Harvest Moon, but Rune Factory....I dunno. The backgrounds were gorgeous, the character models were tiny abominations of nature. ;p

Call of Duty 4 would be worth buying for the single player game if the single player was longer then like 6 hours long. But its not. Its disappointedly short. Awesome, yeah. But really short. Even by FPS standards.

Also interested, as I enjoy it quite a bit. I play several times a week, and I'm getting to be quite the terror with claymores and a sniper rifle or LMG.

So yeah...still liking Rune Factory, but there are some complaints. Of course, the best way to illustrate this is to compare it to Harvest Moon. Okay, it makes sense that at the beginning of RF, the hoe and watering can are given to you. I mean, after all, that plus seeds is what you need to farm. What DOESN'T make sense is how you acquire other tools. For example, in Harvest Moon, if memory serves correct, you acquire different tools by purchasing them.

I guess this just made TOOOOO much sense for Rune Factory. Yeah, to get them thar tools? You gotta randomly talk to various villagers. Not so bad? Really? Consider the following scenario:

Snotty Bitch: "Aren't you going to renovate your property anytime soon?! What an eyesore!"
Me: "Err."
SB: "Oh wait, you'd need an axe to break up the lumber to do that, wouldn't you?"
Me: "Uhh."

AND YOU GET A FARKING AXE. Right. THAT made sense. On a slightly different note, I've gone back to playing Final Fantasy 12 again, which, while an interesting twist in the FF series, is admittedly more of a Vagrant Story 2 with an updated sphere grid a la FFX. That's not to say it's a bad game or anything, but gathering licenses gets to be a chore.

And finally, one of my coworkers got Guitar Hero 3 for his laptop and I proceeded to break various records on it. w00timus maximus.

I want to like it, I really do. But after coming out of the perfect balance of TF2 and walking into the complete mess that is CoD4 multi it was a huge disappointment. Everything's just a one shot one kill frag fest that rewards finding a corner and staying there the entire game rather then any actual tactics. Then there's the retarded "Perks" ( Martyr and Last Stand for example ) and other unlocks that ensure new players basically just have to bend over and be whipping boys for high level players.

Then there's the cheating. Jesus Christ what's up with all the cheating? Exp hacking, auto knifing, etc. It reminds me of Counter-Strike with the level of cheating.

Combine that all with a map set that has a ridiculous amount of sniper holes / elevated fire positions and its just not fun in any way shape or form.

Oh, and why go so hardcore for realism then leave in bunny hopping, prone spamming and instant knife kills? -.-

It really sucks because I so wanted to enjoy it. Thats why I bought it, for the multi.

Yeah, the last multiplayer game I was playing diligently was Stick Arena. Fun stuff, but yes, WAY too many cheaters. When you're actually playing against legit players, that's one thing, but MAN...there are just too many cheaters. Still, if I can find a game that is cheatproof (HA!), that'd be fun.

I just got XBox 360 for Christmas! I got the two standard games that come with it. The Forza Motorsports game is ADDICTING! I also got Halo 3, Rainbow Six Las Vegas, and Call of Duty 4. I still haven't opened Rainbow Six or Call of Duty yet. Kinda waiting till I get back to school. And I beat the first level in Halo. I'll upgrade my account when I get to school to so I can get online.

Hey, let me know how that R6Vegas is. I haven't played a Rainbow Six game since the first one, and even then, I played that on the N64. Didn't really like it all that much, but given the advancements in the Splinter Cell series, I figure it's probably worth checking out.

Once I get a more stable internet connection at home (Feb/Mar 2008) I'll be back to playing Eve Online with two accounts simultaneously

Otherwise.. it's Diablo 2, Rise of Nations, considering getting back into WoW...

On consoles... Final Fantasy has always been a favorite of mine (I started playing 1 for NES a long time ago) then there's Onimusha Tactics for GBA, Destiny of an Emperor for NES..Dragon Warrior 1-4 for NES.. the list of RPGs goes on.

Oh, and let's not forget Dynasty Warriors 2-5 for PS2... mmm..good times.

Just got Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Christmas. This game is like digital love. I love how the controls are so simplistic, yet effective. Being able to move the map down to the bottom screen and write stuff on it is also great. I'm also having waaaaaay too much fun with the boomerang. I can wipe out a room full of weak enemies by writing my name, or "LOL."

I'll admit I was a little worried about sea travel, with it being the sequel to Wind Waker. Thankfully, gone are the days of "change the wind to X direction, point the ship at your destination, and go take a nap or something until you get there."

The online Battle game is fun, too. If anyone wants to play me sometime, we'll exchange Friend Codes.

It's probably been mentioned already, but has anybody watched the Zero Punctuation video game reviews? They are as funny as hell. Search that or go look on www.escapistmagazine.com and prepare to clutch your sides.

I'm a n00b gamer. Seriously. It took me A YEAR AND A HALF to finish Link's Awakening. I got stuck playing some of my dad's old Atari 2600 games - and yes I have seen first-hand the fiasco that was the ET game!! (Not on my dad's though.) I have a gamecube, I only really like the more multiplayers on there...I have a GBA and a DS and that's where my game library has expanded more. I really want them to port Oracle of Seasons and Ages to the DS...I love those games.

RP wise, I love Vanishing Point and Call of Cthulhu, I've tried D&D and I'm muddling together a system of my own that uses d10, and other dice (d4-d5-d6-d7-d8) as damage dice depending on one's power. It also has a hell of a lot riding on the hitpoint system, like numbers-to-roll-to-hit and how many times one can use the power before you start losing hp.

After a pause for getting ready for the holidays, I've been playing with the goodness that is The Orange Box. I've already completed Portal, and am at the point in HL2:Ep. 2 where I'm defending the base against Striders. Haven't even touched the other game I got, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl.

That, and my wife let me purchase a game off of Steam during their 10-50% off sale (going on until Jan. 1st!) that I've been wanting for awhile, Flatout 2. Now I have to make a copy of my Steam folder on my laptop and take it to a high-speed connection to download the game. Hopefully I'll be done today.

Has anyone beaten Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth? I got far enough that I could actually have weapons, got the truck working...then got beat up during the ride. I kinda gave up there, but it was pretty fun for what it's worth. BTW, depending on the Zelda game, you may never finish it...*cough* ZELDA 2 AND MAJORA'S MASK *cough*. Hmm.

In any case, I'm still hoe-ing away at Rune Factory. I'd also like to point out that I made some impressive sales, so I decided to pick up some stuff. I picked up dot Hack 2 and 3, but it'll probably be quite an effort to find 4 in a store rather than online. I also picked up Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence or whatever the subtitle is.

I'd played MGS3 before, but hadn't beaten it, so I decided to pick up the "plus version" of sorts. And this reminds me...has anyone tried the Acid games? Personally, I really enjoyed them. Beyond that, I was really interested in Portable Ops, but I guess the plus version was crap or something, so I don't know.

And while we're on the subject, what are your thoughts on MGS4? Personally, I think it'll be great, but I'm not sure what system I ought to get to play it.

I can't remember if I managed to beat CoC or not...

I do remember that the first time I tried playing (X-Box), I got to the chase sequence, died 5 bajillion times, then packed it up for a YEAR. Then the next time I played, I got through it on one try. I almost died in shock. Then I died because I got tagged by a townsman that snuck up on me while I was shocked. So I had to do it again >_<

I did manage to get really far in the game though. The insanity effects are the best I've seen in a game to date. Blows Eternal Darkness out of the water for creep factor. The weapons don't make the game any easier though...

Just finished The Witcher. FANTASTIC game. The totally random sex kinda weirded me out....but other then that, fantastic game. Been a long time since there was a really kick ass, well written RPG out.

Only prob is, like I said, the totally random sex. It doesn't have actual sex scenes or anything but it seems like half the people you talk to try to pork you. >< I tried to get through it avoiding as many of them as possible but I was still raped or blackmailed into it 3 or 4 times.

Sometimes you'll just get jumped midway through a conversation off a dialogue option that wasn't even remotely related. Its kind of odd. But if you can ignore that ( or I guess revel in it if thats your thing ) then its a fantastic game.


Sigh, I just reopened my WoW account yesterday too. Starting up a new toon with a friend on Misha ( the server ) >.>
