    Does that mean that Mario's name is actually "Mario Mario"? And Luigi's name is "Luigi Mario"?

    Generally, when you talk about the So-and-so brothers, you use the last name...so wouldn't that make sense?

    Canonically, yes, as far as I am aware. The ...er... live-action movie of which we do not speak started that, and (apparently) Nintendo made it official around the time of the Brothers' 30th-anniversary celebration.
