  • Have any good crockpot recipes?

I recently got a crockpot and am loving it. Would love to hear of some recipes for it

  • #2
Found some in my mega-recipe file. I'll compile them later, there's a ton more.
(edit: Sorry about the spacing in between the ingredient names; the forum stripped out anything with consecutive spaces that I added when posting. Odd.)

    Slow-cooker Bolognese

1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil 1 large onion, chopped 2 large carrots, chopped

3 celery stalks, chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 3 tbsp. tomato paste

2 lb. ground beef 1 28- oz. can crushed tomatoes 1 tbsp. dried oregano

1 tbsp. dried thyme 1 bay leaf 1 tsp. kosher salt 1 c. dry red wine

1 c. whole milk Freshly ground black pepper

In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic and cook until tender, 6 minutes. Add tomato paste and stir until combined, then add ground beef and brown. Transfer mixture with a slotted spoon to slow-cooker. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, thyme, bay leaf, salt, red wine, and milk. Stir until combined, then season with pepper. Cover and cook on low, 6 hours. Discard bay leaf. Serve over cooked pasta. Freeze leftover sauce in an airtight container for up to 1 month.

1/3 cup finely chopped onion 3/4 cup diced cooked ham (or a ham bone) 3 1/4 cups water

2 cups milk 1 cup Cheddar Cheese 1 pound bacon (cooked and crumbled to top with)

Chop potatoes, celery, onion and ham. Toss it all into the slow cooker with water, chicken bouillon granules, salt and pepper. Cook it on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. About an hour before cooking time ends, add 2 cups of milk and one cup of cheese. Stir it together and top with cooked, crumbled bacon.

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1⁄4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

4 cups nonfat frozen vanilla yogurt, for serving, or vanilla ice cream

Place the apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a slow cooker. Stir to combine. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or on low for 4 hours on high, until the apples are bubbling and tender. To serve, put 1⁄2 cup of the apples in each of 8 small bowls. biscuits and sausage gravy in a slow cooker

    1lb (450g) pork sausage 1/4 cup (60g) butter 1/3 cup (78g) flour

    3 cups (710mL) milk 1 10.5oz (300mL) can cream of chicken soup

1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp fennel

Homemade Biscuit Dough (see below recipe). OR 2 12oz cans of refrigerated biscuits

2 cups flour 1 teaspoons sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt 8 tablespoons cold butter, cubed 3/4 cup milk

    1. For the biscuits, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together in a medium-sized bowl. Add the cubes of butter to the mixture and use the pads of your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until crumbly. Slowly pour the milk into the middle of the crumbly mixture and knead until a biscuit dough forms. 2. Cook the sausage in a dry frying pan over medium heat. Once cooked, remove the sausages from the pan but keep the drippings. Add the butter to the drippings and heat until melted. Once melted, slowly add the flour, salt, pepper and fennel seeds, stirring with a whisk until smooth. Slowly add in the milk, stirring constantly until well-blended. Stir in the soup and set to one side. 3. Form the biscuit dough into 2" balls (or if using refrigerated dough, cut into quarters). Grease the bottom of a 4 or 5-quart slow cooker before placing the biscuit dough up the sides of the slow cooker, creating a hollow in the middle. 4. Add sausage into the hollow created by the dough. Pour the sausage gravy into the middle of the biscuits, over the sausage, then cover with three paper towels. Cover and cook on a low setting for 4 hours. Pro Tip: Although we recommend making your own easy biscuit dough, you can easily use store-bought dough instead. If you prefer this method, we recommend using 2 12oz cans of refrigerated biscuits for this recipe.

Chicken n noodles - crock pot

1 24 ounce package – frozen egg noodles 2 – 14.7 oz cans – cream of chicken soup

1 stick (1/2) cup butter – cut into pieces 1 – 32 oz chicken broth – may want extra to thin out, if too thick. the frozen noodles thicken the broth

mixed vegetables – optional Chicken buillon to taste – optional – i add about a teaspoon of better than buillion chicken flavored paste – for a richer chicken flavor

6 small boneless, skinless chicken breasts or 4 large

salt & pepper to taste – can add some parsley too if desired

Salt & pepper chicken breasts and place in the bottom of crock pot. Spoon soup over the chicken. Cut butter into several pats and place pieces evenly over soup. I whisk the bouillon with the broth and pour over soup. Place lid on pot and turn to low. Cook for 6 hours. Remove chicken and tear into pieces. Add back to pot. Now add noodles and if adding veggies add now. Cook for another 2 hours or until noodles are desired tenderness. I stir a few times during last 2 hours. ( You may want to add more broth to thin out at the end of cooking, as the home made noodles thicken the broth, which we like. )Sprinkle with parsley and mix in, if using at the end of cooking. Salt & pepper if needed and Serve. Yum!

The instruction book you got with the crockpot probably has a few recipes in it. And there are loads of webpages (here's a page with simple recipes), or any good book store (new or used) will have lots of books with crockpot recipes. I can give you a few links to recipes I've tried and liked:

      Crockpot Corned Beef and Cabbage

I make risotto in a slow cooker.

Makes a BUNCH of it, too...

        Here's what you'll need:

Basically, it's this recipe (minus the asparagus and mushroom) but in a slow cooker:

        https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/...recipe-1916284

Except what I do is melt the butter in the crock pot, then pour in the rice and (optional, for me) onions. I stir that together until it is mixed in with the rice fairly well. Then I just dump in the liquids. Cook on high until the liquids are mostly absorbed by the rice (which will take a few hours, even on high) stirring occasionally. Once you get the consistency you want, add the cheese, nutmeg, and lemon zest. Salt and pepper to taste.

This sounds like regular biscuits and gravy with extra steps!

Except fennel seeds? You put fennel seeds in your gravy? BURN THE HERETIC!!!

ROFL, I do not. Hell no. These are just a teeny sampling of the myriad recipes I've collected over 20+ years of lurking the interwebs

Heck, if you want extra steps, I'm pretty sure I have a crockpot chocolate fudge recipe, too!
