  • Silly personality question

Ever been complemented by being compared to somebody you absolutely loathe? If so, how did it make you feel?

I've had a drunk guy in a bar tell my I reminded him of Elon Musk, and today Tinkerbell compared me to Vince McMahon. Tinkerbell is apparently a big wrestling fan and, combined with her love for DIsneyworld, is definitely a connoisseur of all things fake.

Obviously it was a fake compliment.

      Actually yes.

My coworker Mezza tried to compliment me, for how bright I am, by comparing me to Elon Musk. I pulled a face and told her, "Please don't compare me to him." She was astonished, realized why, and said it had nothing to do with Musk's ... viewpoints, but I told her, "I get where you're coming from, just please don't do it again."

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers
