I am so glad that I signed up . . .these cards really do help.
Is it ok that I tear up with some of the cards?
I am honestly greatful for every single one of them.
Thank you everyone.
So I got my Entertainment Weekly magazine a few days ago and tossed it in the pile of crap on my couch. I decided to flip through it today and discovered there were two actual pieces of mail that were stuck in it. One was something for my roommate and the other was a very cute card from DGoddessChardonnay. Thanks!
they would hang me because i'd be one of the many in my area for the moment that would try and mail anything out for christmas after the posted date. And I have no courage as it is. That and worried that some of the cards won't make it because i'm moving by january....hugs...yeah i just....don't want to do anything but make myself clean up and pack because no one else will do it and i can't ask anyone to do so for me because its not right.
ticks away from just going down the street and walking until my feet come off....because i dun know what else to do....sorry for the melodrama.
Oh sweetheart...we don't hang people because of late Christmas cards. *snugs and hugs tight* I know some who mail theirs out on the 24th and we don't think bad of them at all. We know that sometimes stamps can't be bought in time for cards to go out before Christmas.
I have one lady on my route that every day she has ten or more cards to go out and she told me she's not even halfway through her list. I know she will still be sending those out after Christmas and I don't think any less of her. I know if I was your carrier I wouldn't think any less of you. I know what it's like to run short on the greenbacks and when things are getting close to the wire. Just remember lovely that soon it will be 2009 and all the troubles of 2008 will be last years troubles.
Work on them as you can and get them out when you can. Moving is stressful as it is and I believe most everyone here has their own moving stories where everything just became overwhelming. We're here if you need someone to lean on or to vent to. Remember that and just take these last days of '08 as they come, one day at a time.

i'm sorry....just shoot me please. evertying is being shut off monday. i have no stamps so yes i'll get out as soon as i can i'm very sorry
It's ok, if you get them out even late that would be awesome but if you honestly can't then don't worry about it. I'm not looking to be a Christmas Card Nazi or anything, this is supposed to be for fun. I just want it to be fair as possible, since there have been many people in the past who have taken advantage of the way run things. I *don't* think that is the case with you, I was just really confused over the details I was given.
I'm at my parent's house for the Christmas season and won't be back in my place in New York until January 4th, but I promise I will update you all on all the cards I have received upon my return to The Big Apple.
Lexia...why would the post office hang you? *blinks???*

Maybe I am missing something, but if you lost some of your labels why can't you just address a few cards out by hand? That just seems really unfair to the people that you just listed, especially when you consider how many hours some of our members put into sending out their own cards (many of them handmade!)
Frankly, I think you should fill out the rest of your cards and get them out in the mail as soon as you are able (who gives a crap what the post office thinks?). This is a pretty understanding group of people, I'm sure they won't mind if their cards come in a week or two late.
That's just me.

I hope I'm not out of line when I say this but, I think that's very unfair.
The rules are very clear when you sign up for the card exchange and most people put in a lot of time and money into sending cards. You should not sign up and then half way through decide you don't want to anymore.
I agree with you, and I'm just glad we still have a couple of weeks time for everyone who signed up to do the right thing and get *all* their cards out. This is not limited to Lexia, I am referring to everyone who has signed up, has not done their cards yet and have *no* plans to get them out yet.
Meaning she received her card but doubts she'll send you one in return. I know, that confused me too.

We are all given the same amount of notice and should be putting money aside for postage and cards before you even contemplate signing up. I don't have a job right now because of the immigration issues and our budget is so tight I pinch a penny until it screams for mercy but I made sure I had enough cards and money for postage before I committed.
We have had people who have gone through terrible personal problems who have still managed to get all of their cards posted.
I wont say anymore, I hope I have made my feelings clear without being rude.
