The 2008 CS Christmas Card List - Discussion

Well, mine will be late. My foster daughter helped me with a handful and then got bored, so I am still struggling. I found a bunch of leftover cards from last year, so I may just do a half and half, and some will get homemade and some will get bought ones.

Again...I am so sorry. I feel like such a shit for being so late with them.
They will go out some time this weekend, and I will try to send them the fastest way possible, as long as it's within my budget.

Alright! My internationals and half of the US cards were dropped in the mail Monday morning, and the rest of the US cards and the Canadians were dropped in the mailbox late last night (well, technically early this morning). If they don't make it to your house by Christmas, I'm sorry, but I also put in "happy new year" greetings as well--and you all got a little dose of modern holiday cheer in my cards!

I apologize for those that I cannot send cards to as I HAD the list of remaining labels and even if i COULD get cards out its a bit too late and the post office would hang me if I tried. So again I THINK these are the people that won't get cards. Not to rub it in but at least wanted to apologize and not leave people hanging. I still feel horrible about not being able to do so

Maybe I am missing something, but if you lost some of your labels why can't you just address a few cards out by hand? That just seems really unfair to the people that you just listed, especially when you consider how many hours some of our members put into sending out their own cards (many of them handmade!)

Frankly, I think you should fill out the rest of your cards and get them out in the mail as soon as you are able (who gives a crap what the post office thinks?). This is a pretty understanding group of people, I'm sure they won't mind if their cards come in a week or two late.

No, it's not. I hand-wrote all of my addresses on my Christmas cards and they've all gotten to their destinations just fine. Who cares what the post office thinks--it's their job to send letters, so why hold back?

I can't even begin to count all the people I've received cards from, but I wanted to comment on the one I got from BlaqueKatt. I have six bad kitties who won't leave the tree alone, so that one was perfect!

I hope I'm not out of line when I say this but, I think that's very unfair.

The rules are very clear when you sign up for the card exchange and most people put in a lot of time and money into sending cards. You should not sign up and then half way through decide you don't want to anymore.

We are all given the same amount of notice and should be putting money aside for postage and cards before you even contemplate signing up. I don't have a job right now because of the immigration issues and our budget is so tight I pinch a penny until it screams for mercy but I made sure I had enough cards and money for postage before I committed.

We have had people who have gone through terrible personal problems who have still managed to get all of their cards posted.
I wont say anymore, I hope I have made my feelings clear without being rude.

I agree with you, and I'm just glad we still have a couple of weeks time for everyone who signed up to do the right thing and get *all* their cards out. This is not limited to Lexia, I am referring to everyone who has signed up, has not done their cards yet and have *no* plans to get them out yet.

Do the right thing, guys.

they would hang me because i'd be one of the many in my area for the moment that would try and mail anything out for christmas after the posted date. And I have no courage as it is. That and worried that some of the cards won't make it because i'm moving by january....hugs...yeah i just....don't want to do anything but make myself clean up and pack because no one else will do it and i can't ask anyone to do so for me because its not right.

It's ok, if you get them out even late that would be awesome but if you honestly can't then don't worry about it. I'm not looking to be a Christmas Card Nazi or anything, this is supposed to be for fun. I just want it to be fair as possible, since there have been many people in the past who have taken advantage of the way run things. I *don't* think that is the case with you, I was just really confused over the details I was given.

I hope things get easier for you soon.
