    Pronunciations would be nice...

    :wistful sigh:

Back on topic--I had a soda (Friday) night.

    And fries.

I had 2 Pepsis today. (I still consider it to be Saturday. So there. :Þ)

Oh well. It's only been 4 days.

I've given up painkillers and alcohol (mostly because I've been known to use alcohol as a painkiller) for Lent...

I'll have to rethink that if I end up severely injured and NEED painkillers...for now, it's just a lot more comfortable to have them; I don't NEED them. Not sure how pleasant I will be without them, but...luckily I won't be the one annoyed by it

And of course the meat on Fridays...although given how much I love veggie pizza, that's not really much of a sacrifice.

You've just got to remember the swear words.

I'm giving up swearing in English... does that count? I'll keep using the rude Polish, German, Italian and Japanese words I know though.
    Works for me.

Day 3: still drinking only 1 Pepsi a day. But my days off will be the real test.

I was raised Catholic, but I no longer follow it. Even so, my family didn't really do the "giving it up" for Lent. We also didn't believe in not eating meat on Fridays either. Mainly because I don't like fish

Awww ... Jester! I like you too!

Of course no one can give me up - I'm a Rum and a Woman!

Yeah ... I need food in my system ... I'm loopy. *wanders off to get a slice of the pizza that just arrived*

I was going to give up chocolate, but as luck would have it Wednesday is the day my local drugstore starts stocking for Easter...the display of Cadbury eggs was calling to me.

So I guess I'll do soda.

I will say I give up Starbucks.

So it would appear that a beer a day doesn't work to stop you from being ill then...?
I have two words for you, and they are NOT "happy birthday"!!!

Actually, this is something that appears to be going around Key West, and for whatever reason, it got me, and good. But slowly I am rebounding, and this morning am probably at 90%. Still not drinking or bicycling, but we'll see how the next few days go......

My joke with customers when the subject of Lent comes up is that the thing that I am giving up for Lent is giving things up!
My grandparents on my dad's side were Catholic, and one of the family jokes is that my dad and my uncle gave up religion for Lent. Then at the end of Lent, well they weren't observing it anymore so they didn't have to be religious again. (My aunt still considers herself Catholic but doesn't go to church, she does however keep a Bible and rosary beads near her bed)
