Wow, Elizabeth Peters' dissertation? That's crazy! I hope it was really interesting.

I like to read an author's backlist, but I know what to cut...like, I'm not interested in Mary Renault's WWI hospital romances but I've read every one of her Greek books at least twice.

I understand that, Boggles, I've done that too. However, sometimes people can go a bit overboard when they want to read everything a favorite author has writen.
      I wouldn;t say I am that extreme!

I mean it in the sense that for example, I recently read Guns Of The South by harry Turtledove. I really enjoyed it. Therefore my next library visit involved checking out another of his and also getting a copy of the order the books were done so that I read them in the correct sequence.

A similar thing occured with Jeffrey Deaver. i know i like his work so have checked to see what of his books I haven;t read so they can go on my to-read list.

Some years ago we had a devotee of Elizabeth Peters (AKA Barbara Michaels and Barbara Mertz). He wanted to possess everything she ever wrote and offered to pay for copies of her Master's Thesis and Doctoral Dissertation.
Didn't she do her Ph.D. in Egyptology? That would have been one dry and technical dissertation... interesting I am sure but you'd really need some background to figure it out.

I did NOT know that third pen name of hers, though! Off to search... oh, OK, that's her actual name and she's written nonfiction about Egypt. Interesting!

I'm currently reading Skull Wars: Kennewick Man, Archaeology, and the Battle for Native American Identity by David Hurst Thomas. Really interesting and well written.

I miss reading but I do not have the time to just sit there and read anymore. Which is why I love audio books. I've found so many new and interesting authors that I'd never found otherwise. I've got a list and a half anymore of books I've listened to this year alone. They range from classics, to comedic, to sci-fi/horror to romance. Oh and a few um, narratives? I always wondered about the Hobo lifestyle.

Again, I do miss reading but hey, at least I'm getting my literary fill some how!
