True, but it seems that every time someone attempts this job, they break at least one stud. I guess the combination of age, repeated heating and cooling, and rust just makes them too brittle and they snap.
In any case, we won't be attempting this particular repair. We have neither to tools nor the proper facilities for it. It will have to wait until it goes in for that overhaul.

Just make certain you're using a craftsman wrench, so that if it breaks you can get it replaced for free.

I used the biggest open-end wrench, and hit the handle part with a hammer. The shock was enough to loosen the bolts.
