  • I think I'll hide under the bed....

    ....until things settle down.

Where i llive, there are a dozen houses opening onto a private yard where we all park.

There are currently 2 police helicoptors shining lights down on the houses that back on to ours, loads of regular police running round, a fair few police cars and motorbikes whizzing round and some police marksmen wandering around with guns.

One marksman is in my next door neighbours house because she is the only one in the block with windows at the back of the house. Another marksman is stood outside . When a few neighbours and i opened our doors to look out we were ordered back in and told not to leave until told otherwise.

      Just before christmas.

My neighbours are all retired people and it seemed like such a nice area!

And more importantly, who the hell are they there for!?

I wouldn't mind one of the marksman using my window, or at least I understand where they're coming from. If that was my job, the last thing I'd need was distractions from the person I'm supposed to be ready to shoot...

Not to mention someone making me slower in getting there.

Personally, when someone with a high powered rifle says to go back into the house, I can wait for that info.

I don't know what they were after but they've packed up and gone home without appearing to shoot anybody.

I shall have to buy the lovdl paper tomorrow to see what they were doing!

Don't blame the neighborhood - chases can go almost anywhere and for all you know it could have just been a (serious) domestic violence issue.

I've had the police kick in my back gate looking for someone (I would have felt sorry for that someone if they broke into my house with protection trained dogs..).

We had similar drama in our street a few weeks ago. Domestic that got out of hand and someone "waved a gun at" someone else. Locked down the stree for two hours.

It's probably no indication you need to move ... well, there are neighbourhoods this "doesn't happen" in, but that's probably because they don't call the cops about it.

This is true. Things like that can happen anywhere. In fact, it happened next door to where I work. Seems the guy who is tied to the building next door is a drug dealer. He had a few (legit) businesses in the area--a car wash and a junk store. From what I understand, he shot and killed an FBI agent in a neighboring county. Needless to say, quite a few residents literally *shit* themselves when they saw what happened later. You haven't lived until you've seen several dozen heavily-armed stormtroopers block off an area, kick in someone's door, and drag people out

Turns out the building next door is owned by the guy's relative. He apparently threatened the relative with harm...if he couldn't store his drugs there. Needless to say, not only was all that crap seized, but so were his legit businesses. As of now, the guy is in jail awaiting trial.

Still bugs the hell out of me, mainly because when my company moved to the area...I'd said something about how the building next door looked like a "crack house." Pretty damn scary that I was right
