  • WHY I NEED TO MOVE!!! (Dumb @$$ driver rantage)

I live in a small city in Pennsylvania....and it seems that no matter where the I go in this city, there are idiotic drivers FUCKIN EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!

In the past 3 years, let me recap the accidents that have not been our fault...and actually our car was parked for ALL of these:

    1) *and the WORST one* We bought a new used car, a 99 Saturn after our POS Dodge Stratus finally gave up the ghost and went to hell. Cute and it had a sunroof, so I was fuckin ecstatic (i'm easy to please). I get woken up by a near earthquake some night at about 2am. A fuckin chevy astrovan (drunk driver) has completely flattened out our 9 day old car against a meter and telephone pole...ugh. Fuckin disgusting. Theres a whole insurance mess and we finally get our money and a new car like a month later.

    2) We buy a new car, a 2006 Saturn Ion. Family walking out to the car one day and find the drivers side rear view mirror in the trash can....Umm..thanks. (had to pay out of pocket to fix that.)

    3) Get woken up one day at 6am by the cops. A city bus knocked off our drivers side mirror...afuckingain. At least the drivers insurance co. paid for that.

    4) Wake up to brand new, sporty white strip down the one side....someone sideswiped the car. (But at least they didnt take out the mirror..lol.)

    5. *Not technically an accident, but sucks anyway* Im walking home from school and turn up the block, thinking about having to rush and get ready for my grandfathers funeral, look up and see the fuckin car is missing the license plate..?! Um..wtf. So, had to call the cops, file a report, get a new license plate and got to the funeral late. FUCKERS.

    6. This Sunday...Im coming home and am met by my husband on the porch. Hes waiting for the cops. Why you ask? Because someone fuckin DENTED THE ENTIRE BACK BUMPER AND KEPT FUCKIN DRIVING.....

Im so done. Im selling the car. Were all getting bikes and/or hoverrounds.. People here are fuckin idiots. Unfortunately, living in this house i am at, there is no driveway, so we have to park in the street. Im getting tired of the fuckin idiots. Im going to start sitting on my porch with a baseball bat.

    /rant.

Hm, sounds like the town I live in.

Beautiful, but very little parking, so you have to park on the streets (tiny, ancient streets that don't have room), plus idiot drivers that DON'T USE THEIR TURN SIGNALS, so sideswiping happens a lot.

Something about getting a job driving a city bus must turn you into an imbecile or something.

The bus drivers in my city are just as bad. Drive like bats out of hell, tailgate, sometimes when they make the turn out of our parking lot to get back to the main street they're going so fast I wonder how the bus isn't up on two wheels.

Did somebody rig all the buses with explosives to detonate if the bus goes slower than a certain speed? I guess life does imitate the movies sometimes.

There's been a couple times where I've had to quickly jump out of the way with carts or whatever because a bus is barreling through the lot and OMG I don't think he's going to stop in time.

Well yea...and a big bag of popcorn to go with the bowl will make sure it stays full...well except for when more needs popping which only takes 3:15 by my microwave.

Sadly, I don't think moving would help. Unless you mean "to a place with a driveway". All towns have bad drivers.

We had our car sideswiped on the street once. Really fricking annoying, isn't it?

Saw a car get munted in the shopping mall the other day. Car A was backing out of a space and about eight empty spaces down Car B was parked. There was a trolley/trundler near Car A that started rolling towards Car B. We were too far away to help. Car A backed out, sat, and watched the trolley ... watched it roll ... watched it pick up speed .... watched ... as ... it ... SMASHED into the side of Car B. Then Car A drove off.

We'd have left a note with their plate but we didn't know if it was actually their trolley or someone else's. Sucks to not get out and stop it, but it might actually not have been their fault to begin with.

all of those points are why i miss my old car. sure it was ugly, and i could only fill the tank half way(broken filler neck) but it ran and NO ONE got in my way when i drove it. i really miss my 1977 ford ltd. battle ship grey, 4500 pounds of TANK. the one time i get hit in it some idiot hit me driving a 92 corsica, dented my bumper a little, moved it 2 inches to the left. totaled his car. i would sell it to ya, but the transmission gave out and threw a ring gear through the case and into the floorboard. its still in the field where we left it. handed the farmer the title and walked home...

Oh, Amina, that is just beyond badluck. It's like the Cosmos is enjoying messing with you.

One thing that drives me nuts in the Houston suburbs is a person has a driveway, but maybe one car parked in the drive way where there is room for 6...and they have another car parked on the street. You have to drive around the car, but when a car is coming from the opposite direction, you have to wait to drive around. Use you %#$&ing driveway!

And maybe I'm just being mental about this, but another house I pass by, which is right on the corner at an intersection with a light, has 7 or 8 cars. 6 in the driveway, and one or two on the street (I don't know if one of the cars belongs to a neighbor). How many cars you need? And they are all cars. Not like one or two are pickups, and one is a gas guzzler SUV, another a van, then rest small cars. They are all small cars. How many people live there? It looks like at most it has 4 bedrooms. And of course, the car on the street makes it hard to wait at the light, since it's in the way. Maybe I'm being mental.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

Amina, is there a place nearby where you can rent a space? I'm thinking not since you would be doing it already - but a rental cost would be less than all of those insurance deductibles! I feel sorry for your poor cars. And you.

Similar things happen around here in the winter when city and contracted plow drivers smash into people's cars.

Something similar happened in our neighborhood. Suddenly there were two or three extra cars parked out on the street. And they always parked on the curb right across from our driveway, so I always worried I would hit one while backing out. We could not figure out where they came from. Until one day I saw someone with a briefcase get into one. Then I remembered a conversation with my daughter’s best friend’s mom. We had been talking about the lack of children in the neighborhood, and how lucky it was to find out that we lived so close by (they live in a cul de sac that branches off of our street, so about 3 houses away). She said she had been thrilled when the house next door to her being bought, and the family who looked at it had small children. And then she found out they had not bought it for a home, but to run their business. Sure enough, the cars were only there on weekdays from 8-5ish. All those cars parked on the street were employees of this business. My boyfriend saw a moving van there last week, and I haven’t seen the cars lately, so I guess they're gone now.
