Jacskonville CSers, I could use your help!

My niece, Princess, will likely be attending UNF this fall. She is going either there or USF, and USF has a new rule that all incoming freshmen have to spend their first year living on campus. Considering the amount of furniture she has, she doesn't want to do that, so that is why it seems likely that she will be heading to Jacksonville instead of Tampa.

Having spent a grand total of only a few days of my life in Jacksonville, I don't know a thing about the town. I definitely don't know a thing about the university or the area around it.

So I am hoping that someone on here can advise me of good areas to live that are relatively close to the University. Someplace reasonably safe for an 18 year old woman, and within bicycling distance of the university. She'll have her car with her, but biking is always the best way to get around for school, in both my and her opinions.

So, Jacksonvillites, help a brother out....help me find a decent place to ensconce this pain in my butt lovely young lady.

I can't help you on Jacksonville, but if you'd like any tips from someone who's been enrolled in college for 7 of the past 8 years, and now does a bit of teaching, send me a PM.

I appreciate it, AA, but I myself was in college for 5 years (GO SUN DEVILS!), so that part I know about. Just trying to be a good uncle and help get my niece settled in a better neighborhood when she goes off to school.
