  • Avoided a dangerous situation

It's 3 am and I'm happily dreaming of something I can't remember when in my dream I hear a very loud popping noise which woke me up, I tried to turn on my lamp but it didn't work so I was thinking the pop noise was the light bulb blowing.

I laid back down to go back to sleep, but I couldn't, the voice in my head was telling me to get up and go to the kitchen, and when I tried to ignore it, it got louder until it was practically screaming at my to get up.

I walk into the kitchen and to my horror the bloody power point was on fire , I yelled for my dh who came running, ripped out the plug that was in the power point and threw it in the sink. The phone was plugged in and it overheated, caught fire and blew the fuse.

I had the electrician out today and he replaced the power point, my phone is a melted mess but that was the only thing damaged. The whole commotion woke all my kids up and that was fun trying to get them back to bed when the crisis was over.

Now here is my oath, I do solomly swear to never ignore the little voice in my head.

Please tell me you have a smoke alarm in your house with a regularly changed/tested battery?
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

Yes we have a smoke alarm and the battery was new, but it didn't go off, I did check it today and it worked fine.

I had a situation like that. I was about to go take a nap, but this voice inside my head said something was wrong. I knew I wouldn't get back to sleep till I went around the house and checked everything. I get to the living room and a WALL is on fire! I was able to get everyone and the animals out. The house was destroyed. It was a rent to own house and the fire happened the DAY BEFORE my appointment to get renters insurance.
