  • Funny work "important date"

In a corporate leveled communication they listed May 1st "May Day" as an important date.

I'm willing to bet they wouldn't have listed it if they knew what it was about.

(Google: Beltane if you don't know what I'm talking about).

When I say the words "May Day" I was thinking of pilots while they're in trouble, shouting "May Day! May Day!"

Is your corporation saying they're in trouble and May Day is their secret code?

Could be, we just had another (small) round of layofs last week.

I'm gonna dress up in a long dress and have flowers on me for May Day =)

ETA: Hehe. You should wear flowers too and dance around a pole.
"Kill the fat guy first?! That's racist!" - my friend Ironside at a Belegarth practice after being "killed" first.

I belly dance with tall Goblins!

Okay McGoddess and RHPG, I can now imagine people in suits, with daisy necklaces and crowns and holding onto brightly colored ribbons and dancing around a pole. Help!

Just because Beltane is also celebrated on the same day doesn't mean "May Day" is about that. In fact, it's not. It's actually about something entirely corporate and logical.

Perhaps you meant "... if they knew an alternative meaning for it". Which would, yes, make it funny.
