  • Stress levels: now through the roof!

I know some of you out there are teachers--do you ever send students messages like, "I have a few questions about your paper before I can give you a grade."?

Because it's really, really fucking with my head right now.

The only time I've done anything like that is when I had a plagiarism situation.

It could be that the professor just wants to ask you a few questions about things, I wouldn't worry about it too much. What kind of paper is this?

If it's handwritten rather than typed, it might just be a legibility issue. Otherwise, perhaps a concern about plagiarism? As long as you've done nothing wrong, I don't think you should be worried...

Hey, you did such a fantastic job they think you couldn't possibly have done it on your own and just want to make sure it was really all your own work, and all that knowledge displayed you really do have! Great job!

It's my senior paper. And I was extremely careful about citing all my sources. I can't think of WTF it could be.

Maybe they want to use it as an example, or ask you to submit it to a student journal? I only did one good piece of art in highschool (a pointalism peice), and the teacher asked me to keep it for her halway displays. Someone stole it from the display, so I guess I recieved a good critical review, eh?

I don't know about your school, but back in high school, my teachers found a website where teachers all over could put in essays and it'd somehow tell you how much of your paper is plagiarized and if so, from what. I believe my senior people for English was 5% or so. And it was the most standard phrases that are of every day use. Wouldn't surprise me if something like that happened.

Don't worry too much about it. in my College English class my teacher would send me similar e-mails all the time. she liked making sure she understood exactly what was trying to be said. Don't stress too much about it, just write her back and ask what she needs, or better yet go see her before class and talk to her about it.
