  • People are so heartless

So I'm sure everyone has seen my other post about how I have a new family of newborn kitties living in my bathroom. I come to work monday excited and was telling coworkers about them. And let me tell you what I had no idea how many people just HATE animals. I've had several people tell me that I need to throw(yes throw) them outside, the mother will find a place for them, and a few say that I should just drown them.WTF!!!!!!And several people look at me like I've grown a second head when I'm telling them about the babies and I'm excited about them.I just thought it was weird how heartless people can be towards a litter of 1 ounce kittens. Am I weird because I feel so much compassion towards animals or are they the normal ones.

Ye gads....and people I work with call me an animal hater because I don't want skunks and raccoons coming by our outdoor break area!

There are some sick, sick people out there who have no room in their heart for animals. It's truly sad.

But there are also people like you in this world, who have the love and compassion that those innocent abandoned kittens are going to need. You have all the love to give that will help them grow to be healthy, happy cats.

Be proud of yourself for being such a kind, loving person. I'm proud of you!

A tad ironic, but my uncle never complained when people dumped unwanted kittens by his farm. It really helped with the inbreeding problem, and there was never a mouse problem in the house.

...WTF? What kind of sadistic community do you live in? Who even suggests the DROWINING of kitties? They are fuzzy and go "mew". They have tails and crawl in your shoes and go potty under the couch.

When my cat had kittens, I had people asking about taking one.

Oh yes, there are people that mean. Yesterday while I was waiting in line at Wally World I had 14 cans of tuna. There was a very elderly man in line behind me with a caretaker of some sort. When he saw the tuna he assumed it was for a cat and said, "If I had a cat in my house I'd feed it to my dogs." WTF?! He didn't even say it to me. The poor lady with him was just kind of squirming making "oh really" noises. The old man then went on and on about how a cat had eaten his pet bird he'd raised from an egg, and he'd hated them ever since.

Wow. I didn't have the heart to tell him in my house it'd be far more likely my cat would chow down on the dogs, and the rabbit would take them all on and win. I've taken in itty bitty kitties before that folks have dumped here. You're a good person for doing this, make no mistake about that.

People just suck. As much as I like my kitties, I can't say that I'd take in more. Sally and Baxter get along, but I'm not sure a kitten would be a good idea. They'd probably fight over it

I don't see a mean old man in the story about the tuna. I see an old man who loves his pets as much as you love yours, and who had his heart broken by a cat. He sees cats at the enemy.

Humans for the most part aren't big lovers of sharks for the exact same reason. We're afraid they are going to eat someone we love.

As for the pricks in the OP's story, yeah. The world is full of people who don't respect life, and have little room in their souls for compassion. They are to be avoided and pitied. My personal definition of evil is "someone with no respect for life and no compassion for other beings." There is quite a bit of evil in the world.

Sadly, many people are like this - just look at some of the comments on my YouTube videos of my puppies.

I mean, how can you say anything bad about this?

                  Cute pups, Draggar!

Candyshopgirl, they're simply savages. You're doing a good thing helping that little cat with her litter and giving them a home. Cats are quite intelligent and capable of gratitude, and she won't forget that you helped her.

I'm sure these people would think differently once they saw the kittens...

Still, some people said you should *drown* the kittens?! What era do they think they're living in?!

                      1) I would not say that you should 'drown' the kittens, that's just mean.

                      2) I respect the fact that you're giving the kittens and their mama a home.

I would not do the same thing. I grew up with a virtual herd of outdoor cats, and mama cats are very capable mothers. Had that been me, I probably would have left them alone. That's just me (and my apartment's rules, of course). Or perhaps taken the whole bunch to a shelter. But I respect what you've done.

Aw, Draggar, squeaky toys!! Too cute!

My old community relations manager in Store2 is not a fan of animals. I would bring Pablo in to visit and everyone would want to pet him but she just said, "I don't like animals....don't like dogs, don't like cats, don't like fish...." She never suggested anyone drown 'em, though. Don't like animals? Don't get a pet. Live and let live. Someday I will have puppies again.

That was like a few years ago, when this retired firefighter wrote a letter to the local newspaper about how it should be made legal to shoot cats, some very big cat lovers started harrassing him and suggesting "Maybe we should shoot retired firefighters who shoot our cats!"......I'm sure he regretted making that statement public. He suffered a LOT of threats and humiliaton.

                            Oh well. He deserved it.
