  • I broke it

On monday i managed to wreck $9800 worth in less than a second.

If you don't know I'm a delivery driver and as such am driving for most of the day.
And add to that a 50 minute drive, each way, to and from work you'd think that as i driver i'd be more than average.

But I managed to fail at driving but was very lucky to take no major damage

I ran into the back passenger corner of a Toyota Hilux that had been lifted so my car went under rather than hitting it.
The back of the tray ended up in front of my face and fortunately I only got some glass cuts to my right hand, a small knock to the head and a bruise from the seatbelt

Anyway here's some pictures of the end result.

All in all I've been very lucky

Holy cow! I'm glad you made it out fairly unscathed. Let me guess, the Toyota made it out with minimal damage?

Ohhh, crap. Sorry about all that But glad you're ok, looking at the damage on your car. Will insurance cover any of it?

Ooh, a Hilux, huh? I understand that they're mostly indestructable.

I hit his back tyre and managed to wreck the rim and pushed the springs forward on their mounts (I'm not greatly mechanically minded but thats what it looked like to me). I don't know if thats caused other major damage or not yet, but at the time it looked like it was easily repairable

I have comprehensive insurance so it should be a write-off and if so they give me money to replace it with something else

It's not being assessed til tuesday, but so far everyone who's seen it, including the smash repairs guys, don't think it's worth repairing.

Glad you're OK. Cars can be replaced, people can't.

The first accident I ever had (and the only one that was my fault; I'd been driving only about 6 months at the time) I hit the back of a parked Bronco II. I was driving a Mercury Marquis (the midsize version, not a Grand Marquis) and the hood basically peeled back like a banana. Luckily I only had a bruise on my nose and a small cut on my eyebrow from hitting the steering wheel. I was only going about 30 mph; my car was almost 10 years old, though, so they didn't feel it was worth fixing. It was a while before I was allowed to drive its replacement without one of my parents along...
