  • Stop parking in my stall!!!

I just need to vent here. I hate coming home from a long day at work only to find some idiot parked in my stall at my apartment complex

I left them a note last time wishing them a good morning and they were parking in my stall.

I get home last night and another car is parked in my stall

I think it is the people that have the assigned stall next to me because all of the cars parked in my stall are beat up with car seats in them and that is exactly the type I keep finding in my stall.

I left a message with the office this morning. This is a lease violation and I never reported it before but since they are ignoring my polite notes they have run out of chances.

Same thing has happened to me a few times. Thankfully, just a few.

Funny thing is, on the lease, the landlords threaten towing if a non-tenant parks in a tenant's parking spot without that tenant's permission.

The few times that I have came home and someone has been in my spot and I've called the landlord, all I've gotten was a "well, get the plate # and make and model, so that way, if they do it again, we can take action"......uh no. You call police and tow truck. NOW. Like it says on the damn lease.

If it ever happens again, I'm just calling the cops or a tow truck and saying my landlord won't do anything about it, this is private property, the lease even states unauthorized vehicles will be towed, so come tow it away right meow.

I feel for you. There are some people who live here who let their friends park all over, instead of on the street where guests' vehicles belong. Especially in winter, because no one wants to obey calendar parking.

You're doing it just right so far. First trying to keep it between owners, and now escalating to the proporty management. I hope the office folks can take care of this for you.

I've problems with this a time or two, mostly on big party nights. Luckily, I have two assigned spaces, and I live alone, and there's never been a situation where both were taken.

Heh, the way it works in my complex is if you find someone parked in your spot, you report it to the security company. They'll come by and I think the first time on a car, they just leave a note not to do it again.

But I know for a fact that we got one car towed for that. So what if we didn't use the space for the first 5 months we lived here. That space comes with the apartment, and the number is marked, so if you want to use it, you can come and ask. Or you can get caught and towed.

When we moved into our condo, we had to agitate to get the spaces marked, so we could be certain which one was ours. (We get one garage and one space.

We tried to be polite about it initially, too - but after a couple of times of that, we just started calling the tow company. (Here, it's our responsibility - the property management won't do it, mostly because they're not on-site, I think.)

The only thing close to that I've ever gotten was someone parking in my father's handicaped spot (big thanks to Super County on that one)... no placard or anything....

However, in this instance, a Super County worker spotted it and called it in...

              I like this place

Anywhoo, yeah, definately call it in yourself if the landlord can't be bothered to do his job.

Our apartment is above stores(ours is above a pizza place), and the parking lot for apt owners is behind those stores in a secure lot. The back of the shops is about a metre or so away from our spots that conviently tuck under our balconeys to provide shelter from snow/rain/heat.

We have come home almost every week to find one of the pizza guys parked in our stall because the back door to their place is almost directly in line.... they always try to laugh it off when K gets out of the car, bangs on the back door until someone answers it and then waits while they move their car.

Last time I was in the car I just sat on the horn until they came out... didnt laugh so much then, especially as I told them in very certain terms what I would be doing to their car if we found them in out spot again. Yah Im a bitch but this was the 5th time in a row that week and they KNOW it is our spot, they KNOW we park there every single day.

One day back when I was driving our exploder, I go to pull in and they have chairs and a card table in our spot FFS!!!! They wanted me to wait until they had finished their current hand before they got up... no way dickwads MOVE. My parking spot is not your backroom.

We went to the strata pres after that who emailed their landlord (the shops are leased ) and told him the strata would start iussing $180 fines everytime we found them in our spot as they have been repeatedly told not to park there. Fines go to the landlord, not the tenant, so that the landlords will keep their tenants in shape. They have THREE spots out front that they lease but want to save them for customers... thats fine but don't frecking use out spot!!!

I guess its a good thing that my complex doesn't have assigned spots. Saves me the aggravation of having people park in my spot. Even if I did, it would still be around the side of the building, since my apartment faces the highway in front. I don't usually have a problem parking, anyway, and in the summer I prefer to park in the back because I have a better chance of parking in the shade. The only reserved spots are a few employee spots scattered around, and a handicapped spot in each parking area.

Both the new apartment and the old apartment have big 'towed at owner's expense' signs posted on the covered parking spots. At the time of signing our leases both landlords made it *Very clear* that we are not to park on the assigned spots because people have, and will, call the tow companies to have our vehicle removed.

Check your lease; you might have the same clause.

My lease says that as well. The landlords are just really lazy in enforcing it.

Maybe if they swung around at night to see how many people's friends are over and parked in tenant's spots.

When I was in San Diego, I loved how my cousin's apartment complex was set up. They do have assigned parking spaces that have numbers on them, and the parking is underneath the building. But the only way to get inside, is to scan this card that she has. The gate opens up, and she goes in and to her spot.

I kind of wish all apartment parking was like this.

I lived in one place that had assigned parking places, as well as a lot of unassigned spaces for additional cars and visitors.

The assigned spaces had a cover over them. Not a full garage, but it kept the majority of the snow off in the winter.

There was only one time when I had problems with a neighbor who either had his own car or a visitor's car parked in my spot. After several attempts to get them to stop, I finally resorted to parking directly behind them, and going into my apartment to call the emergency phone. I waited until someone came to see what was up, at which point the owner of the car (a visitor) was fuming about not being able to leave. The on-call person told them under no uncertain terms that next time he WOULD have them towed.

It never happened again, but I did move away from there a few months later. Sometimes, you just have to be a dick about it.

They park, you call, they're towed. That's how it should be. The landlord needs to step up to their contracts.

The apartment manager called me back as soon as she got into the office. She said that she was going to put a tow sticker on the car and talk to the people. She was not going to tow it at that time (I was OK with that because I was parked in one of the non assigned spots that was close to my apartment. ) The manager came out to my stall immediately and put a note on the car along with the tow sticker.

When I left to pick up my daughter from school at 2:00pm that car was still parked in my stall When I got back I was going to go the office to tell them it is time to tow it but when I got back the car was gone.

I have never had a problem with people parking in my stall. Then the people that are parked next to me (Don't know them cause we live in different buildings) moved in a couple of months ago and started doing it. I have seen about 4 or 5 different cars parked in their stall. I think they have more people living in the apartment then allowed.
