  • Stomach Flu From Hell..And Quitting Smoking For Good?

So apparently from now on when I am about to buy any kind of pizza, or order pizza, I'm going to have to ask if there's garlic in it. Apparently my sense of smell is so selective or I'm just so stupid that I can't smell it. Being a vampire, I am garlic intolerant. Completely. If I eat garlic, I get either Exorcist style vomitting, or the kind of diahhrrea that leaves you with your hands clenching the sides of the toilet, with the feeling that you just went to the moon without your oxygen tank.

Two days later and I still feel like absolute shit. I'm slowly getting to the point of being able to sit up and stand up for more than a few minutes, but before that, I couldn't do either for more than a few minutes without getting dizzy or nauseated.

I have to lay flat on my back, hands away from my mid-section, or else I'll get sick again.

My stomach is so cramped that I cannot get comfortable no matter how much I try to relax, and it's one of the major reasons I cannot stand or sit long.

My mom brought me lots of popsicles and crackers and Maaloxx....but even the highest strength Maaloxx isn't helping. I tried a heating pad and it helped a little bit with the cramping, but not enough to get me to sleep.

And sleep. Ugh...we won't go there. In and out of sleep like mad. Sleep for an hour here, a half hour there, then tossing and turning my head for what seems like forever, laying there staring at the ceiling....trying to get back to sleep....no idea when I'll be able to get back to sleep.....I only got about 4 hours of sleep total yesterday. I couldn't even finish taking a shower, I got so dizzy after just 5 minutes in the shower that I had to sit down in the shower.

I can't lose anymore hours at work or anymore pay. I need to get better. This is the worst case of stomach flu I have ever had in my life.

On Sunday when it all began, I vomitted to the point where there was literally nothing left....I had the dry heaves. NOTHING left. I was done vomitting by Sunday night, but the sick feeling and cramping will NOT go away.

On the plus side....I did not smoke one cigarette on Sunday, I tried to smoke a few times yesterday and each time I wasn't even able to smoke more than a few puffs before feeling like I'd vomit again and putting it out and going back in.

So silly....I've had bronchitis and so many other crazy sicknesses before and never quit smoking and just kept doing it (even when my lungs were the sickest part of me!) and this time around, I'm so sensitive that the smell of smoke and the taste of tobacco makes me want to vomit.

If this stomach flu doesn't go away, I'm fairly certain I will be a nonsmoker by the time it's all said and done.

Jesus, blas. As good as quitting smoking is, there are easier ways!

Joking aside, have you gone to a clinic about this? I know it can be expensive, but if things get really bad, you'll want to consider it.

Nope, I haven't been to a doc yet.

I'm already in deep shit for being unable to pay my medical bills (that is WITH insurance...do NOT ask me why Paps need to cost almost as much as one month's rent for me and why insurance barely covers it!) and ER/Urgent Care visits are $100 copay......with insurance. Hopefully I can avoid the doc and I'm better by today...

I have a feeling I have no choice, though. My parents are going to be calling me within the next few hours to let me know who is taking me to the doctor.

          So...um....errr.......

          Ok fine, here, I'm ready...

*bends over and pulls pants down*

          Get your paddles.

As soon as I felt better, I started smoking again.

But on a good note, no more pukies, and tummy is much more relaxed. Still gotta take the Maalox with me everywhere I go to chug in an emergency....but much better overall.

Yikes, Blas. I had a bout of food poisoning so bad that I ended up cramped up to the point that I had to sit hunched over. Breathing hurt. My doctor thought I might have gall bladder problems and sent me to the ER. I ended up with a dilaudid drip. Awesome stuff. I slept the rest of the day away on a happy cloud.

Nope, I didn't go to the doctor. My little brother got into a car accident the other day and I finagled my way out of going and paying $100 out of my own pocket to go to urgent care.

I'm glad I have insurance rather than none at all, as my birth control shot is competely free of charge and the muscle relaxers I had to take for a while were very reasonably priced, but at the same time....that's way too much to go to urgent care if you aren't in a real state of emergency.

Yes, my stomach was so crampy the only way I could be comfortable on Sunday and most of Monday was to lay flat down. Not even sit. Forget standing long. But by late Monday night into Tuesday, it started getting better. Then on Tuesday morning I decided to try driving, and I was able to sit long enough to drive.

I woke up crampy again today, though. Lately it's been extremely hard to eat what I used to eat. I have about half of the appetite I used to have.

Dare I say it...mono? When I got mono, I threw up an entire week straight the first week I had it. It SUCKED.

I would hope to God not. I just want to think that since the vomitting on Sunday was so severe that my stomach is still trying to recover itself from it.

Edit to add: I really doubt it's mono. I don't have a sore throat or fever. I'm always fatigued, because I'm a backwards person working nights and sleeping during the day.

Neither did I. It wasn't until a doctor applied pressure directly to the affected organs that I had any idea that I had mono.
