Palm Beach county sheriff's office is getting better with their unmarked police cars.

My county has a Ford pick up truck as an unmarked vehicle. I guess it makes sense since so many people drive pick up trucks.

When that truck started pulling people over, there was a buzz in town about it. But you can't tell which white truck is the cop since it's such a generic Ford pick up that many people drive.

In the UK you could be pulled over by anything, ranging from a spec'd out version of a ford mondeo to a Skoda Ocatvia VRS.

Without getting so close as to see the little cameras front and rear you won't spot them!

I remember the AHP (Arizona Highway Patrol) used to have a few marked Mustangs and Camaros that would patrol (what else?) the interstates looking for speeders, and usually nailing them. I am sure they still have something comparable. I do remember one time, driving back to Phoenix at night from a gig I had in Tucson, zipping along in my Dodge Shadow Turbo, and I saw Ford lights coming up on me. I thought about racing the dude, but decided against it, and when he went by me, I saw the markings and the lights, and was glad I kept it at a reasonable 75 mph.

As for unmarked cars, for a while here on the A1A the cops had an awesome unmarked purple Camaro. (Cue the Dead Milkmen.) Of course all the locals knew to watch out for it within a week or so, but the tourists never had a chance. No lights, no markings, until they came after you, then the dash lights would come on, and you were toast. I haven't seen the purple Camaro in a while....not sure what they did with it.

One of the nice things about living in my state (OR) is that it is actually against the law for unmarked police cars to be used for traffic enforcement. I only have to worry about traffic problems when I see a black and white pull up behind me.

I remember years ago, about 10 years ago there was a major bank holdup in our city. I don't recall all the details, but basically every cruiser was called to find these guys. Needless to say my dad watched an AMC Gremlin fly by with the blue lights going.

But like thegiraffe said they're taking drug cars nowadays. I know when I lived in quincy they had a couple of Ford Broncos, and a vette (was mainly used for show)

Around here you mostly see the crown vics, the impalas, and the dodge chargers. But I've seen a handful of mustangs, ford explorers, chevy s-10, couple of dodge rams

Okay, I would think a Gremlin with cop lights would be worth noting, not "needless to say"!!!!!
