  • Concerts from back in the day....

Okay. My very first real concert I ever attended was John Denver. I think I was like 15 or so. He was amazing.

What was your first concert, or memorable concerts from when you were younger?

If you are "younger" now, you can still play.

My first was when I was 15. It was a Newsboys concert. I had a blast. And it was at Six Flags Astroworld, which is now a vacant lot...

I wish I had time to go to concerts more often.

No, it was NOT my choice.

Oh, man, I bet that WAS an amazing concert, I love the Newsboys.

I saw some great ones. I saw Ratt open for Bon Jovi. Saw The Hooters open for 38 Special. Saw Heart ( I can't remember who opened for them, but they weren't memorable.) Saw a Cinderella/ Bon Jovi ticket. Triple ticket with Kix, I wanna say Great White, and Ratt. Saw Journey live.

When I was a wee one, yonks before I was old enough to remember anything more than brief flashes, my parents took me to a summer concert of my favorite group at the time (who would be a favorite group of mine right up into late middle school), at a local ski slope that was starting to branch out with other activities during the summer to earn some more cashflow.

            The group? The Beach Boys.

Again, I can't remember much, but I can remember sitting on the blanket between my parents and squealing with glee as they started playing "Surfing USA."

I've only ever been given a ticket to one other concert, and that was as a Christmas gift, I was given a ticket to see Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin open for Nickelback (I like all three).

I bought tickets for myself and the at-the-time-fiance to go see Rev Theory and Saving Abel last year during the slow death spiral of our relationship, before the eventual crash and burn. The funny part is that despite it being my kind of music that none of her friends showed any interest in, she still managed to find the two friends of hers I had the most problems getting along with, and gravitated toward them the whole night. I just shut my mouth and listened to the music.

I have also seen Jerry Seinfeld and Ron White at live gigs in town, but I'm not sure those really count as concerts.

The first big concert I ever remember going to was Alice Cooper. And hell yes, it kicked so much ass!

                      Meat loaf - 1995 - Manchester Arena.

It was part of the Everything Louder tour although by then it was being billed as Live In The neighbourhood as the new Welcome to The Neighbourhood album had been released.

I was 14 years old and on the front row. Went with my dad and a few of his work colleagues. As part of the package, we went back stage afterwards and got to meet the band. Somewhere in a shoebox, there is a photo of me being kissed on the cheek by the lovely Patti Russo. As a 14 year old in the presence of a lovely lady, i of course am bright red and incredibly embarrassed! A photo that I am proud to say has been duplicated on just about every tour since then!

IIRC, it was Dave Lee Roth (solo, after leaving Van Halen).

Not long after, I went to my 2nd concert - Cyndi Lauper... and she was much better on stage than Dave... and she was sick! (as in, you know, not well... not 'sick' as in 'awesome'...).

Sportsmom... Cinderella and Judas Priest... in combination....wtf??? Oh well.....

A couple of years ago, I walked out on an international band that I paid well for... and the support act was (IMNHO) better! When they did one song for the second time, just so the guitarists could have another go at wanking on stage, I got bored!

Haven't been to very many concerts. But, I have seen Billy Joel (1993), Don McLean, Mamas & the Papas, The Clarks ('94). Most of those were free shows, during the Regatta or at South Park. I'd never heard of The Clarks before I saw them perform in my dorm at college

1983 Mountain Aire Concert. There were five bands the day I attended, but I only remember four: Nightranger, The Plimsouls, Men at Work, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. (Ack! I'm old.) It was great. It was so hot, though. They had outdoor showers running all day to cool off in. We were so tired and burned out that we left before Tom Petty was done, and he was incredible in concert.

The last tour of The Who when John Entwhistle was alive. 2002? They played for three hours. It was amazing. Best line of the night: Two songs in, Pete Townshend, "Why did you get front row seats if you're going to fucking sit in them all night?"

Last concert: Annie Lennox opening for Sting. I left after Annie. She was amazing.

It was 1987. What can you really say...

I do remember the next day when I looked in the paper to read the review, they said that Eric Brittingham, the bassist for Cinderella, had to get on a plane right after they played to head home because his wife was in labor with their first child.
