I'm not seeing any talk about this movie so far here on CS.Com, so allow me to share what I just found online...

Now, given the generally low-resolution nature of the images, it's pretty hard to make out just how extensively scarred his face is. I imagine we'll see a LOT more detail when the film's projected larger-than-life on a nice 70 ft. screen at the local multiplex!

But so far... it looks like they're remaining fairly faithful to how the character should look... only thing I can really see that's wrong is that he doesn't have the eyelids peeled back on his right eye, exposing more of the eye, like how he's sometimes drawn in the comics. So far, I'm pleased.

Since some of you may have no idea who Jonah Hex is, a little back story is in order. Back in the 1970s, DC Comics published a much more diverse selection of titles than what you typically see today, covering all kinds of genres. In the '70s, DC was still publishing some westerns, because the western genre was still incredibly popular back then. Out of DC's western stories came Jonah Hex, a horribly disfigured, tough as nails former Confederate soldier turned bounty hunter who sometimes also encounters threats of a supernatural nature.

There is a movie adaptation that's currently filming, hence the on-set photos above. Besides Josh Brolin as the title character, the film also stars Megan Fox of Transformers fame as a... um... "lady of the night".

This movie has the potential for strong crossover appeal, since it can appeal to fans of comics, fans of westerns, AND fans of supernatural thrillers (it has been strongly rumored that the movie WILL include threats of a supernatural nature, as some of the comics stories have.)

I'll confess that I've never read any Jonah Hex comics, but I'll probably see the movie anyway. Been YEARS since I've seen a good western on the big screen!

I mean, seriously, what size is that waist? 12 inches?!?

Also, found some more info about the movie. The movie also stars Will Arnett, Michael Shannon, and John Malkovich, who will be playing the main villain of the movie.

Arnett will play a Union soldier who enlists Hex and is blindsided by the dirty fighting style of his enemies. The role is not inherently comic.

Shannon plays Doc Cross Williams, the bizarre ringleader of a brutal gladiator circus event. The character might appear in sequels.

Jimmy Hayward is directing "Hex." It's the story of Hex (Brolin), a scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner (Malkovich) who wants to raise an army of the undead to liberate the South.
