First Movie?

No idea. My family would more often rent or buy movies once they were released on video rather than watching in theaters, or we'd see them on cable. Anything I'd suggest as my first theater movie would very likely just be something we had in the VCR.

That being said, I do remember watching Robocop and Ghostbusters 2 on the couch at home; watching Terminator, T2, and Predator at my Uncle's house; and having All Dogs Go To Heaven, the GI Joe movie, and a few others on video.

I'll also throw out that most of the videos of my first few years are Betamax.

I remeber going on an infant school trip to see Tales of Beatrix Potter. But I remeber the coach ride more than the film. I would be 4 or 5.

The first time I went to see a movie with my folks was Across the Great Divide. I couldn't sleep after that worrying that the wolves were going to get me.

I remember going to the drive-in when I was little, but I don't remember any of the movies. The first movie I saw in a theater was the She-Ra movie. I was a big fan of She-Ra way back when.

Wizard of Oz in the early 1950s. I'll never forget the terror. I had to be carried out in hysterical tears and I wasn't the only one.

Like several others, the first one I can remember seeing is "Star Wars: A New Hope".

Some of y'all are making me feel so old with the first movies that you remember! Especially Rine. I was in college when "Aladdin" came out.

The first I can remember was Blade Runner, I would've been about 6 and I spent the entire time hiding on the floor-still never seen it again in almost 30 years.

Heh, that's one of my favorite movies. Of course, I'll watch anything that Harrison Ford is in....

My first movie that I recall watching in theatres was "The Fox And The Hound" (Disney cartoon), I think. Either that or "E.T.".

Fox and Hound was mine too I was 5 (musta been 1982).

Saw She-Ra a couple of years later when we were about 7 at the final showing at the ABC cinema (it was closing down) which was great fun for us not so sure my dad enjoyed it though.

Add me to the group that has Star Wars (the original release) as the first movie. I'm sure I'd seen others before that, but it's the first one I specifically remember going to see.

The closest theatre to my house was a one screen building called the Capital. It was a 35 minute drive away. So I didn't see my first movie in theatres until i was 11. I saw Toy Story 2.

My second Film was Snow Day.

Shortly after that we started actually driving the hour it took to get to the multiplex. I saw MANY more films after that.

Also after reading everyone else's post I feel insanely young. *grumbles about being almost 21 ant realizes that makes me sound like a child saying they are 3 and a half*

First film I can remember going seeing is Stargate, sadly the cinema I watched it in got knocked down a few years back, was a grand old place too.

Oh yeah! You got the Tantive IV come over the top of you and then that seemingly endless star destroyer after it! A big screen is the only way to get the full effect of it.

Of course, what they did with that in "Spaceballs" was hilarious.

The Neverending Story

I would have been about two and a half when it came out, so for a long time I thought I was crazy and thought that it must have been rereleased when I was older and that's what I was remembering. But a couple of Christmases ago, I was home and watching it with my mother and mentioned that and she confirmed that yes, I did see it in the movie theaters. There was supposed to be something else playing (she doesn't remember what) but that came on and when they realized it was the wrong movie, Brother and I were way to interested for them to make us leave.

She says I didn't cry but I definitely did not like when Artax was in the swamp (that scene still makes me sob) and that Gmork scared me a little (I apparently hid half my face in her shoulder and watched with one eye.

I did, however, love Falkor. I've always loved Falkor. I've always wanted a stuffed Falkor.
