  • A qestion for those in the Maryland/West Virginia area in regards to boats.

We just got back from a family trip to Tennessee, and I'm curious about something I saw up in the mountains of Maryland and West Virginia, and I'm hoping someone might have an answer. Why the hell are people sending 40-50 foot boats through the mountains on tractor trailers? Like where's the lake big enough to handle a 40-50 foot boat in the mountains? And three wouldn't it be better to keep it in the water? I mean they're were being dragged through like 6-10% grade roads, by tractor trailer, moreso probably because anything else wouldn't be able to haul it through the mountains, and then out of the 10 large boats we saw being hauled. 1 definitely didn't make it to it's destination and another was pulled over because the load had shifted, and they probably had to fix the boat on the trailer.

There are some big lakes behind the TVA dams in TN AFAIK. They might be shipping to a retail outlet somewhere else, but I have no idea why they would go through WV, and especially the mountains, in that instance.
