*wonders how long until Sarlon starts hating yard work*

Seriously, I've been in my place nearly 3 years...and still have plenty of work to do. Previous owner basically ignored the yard, other than cutting the grass. As such, it wasn't too surprising that I had weeds taller than the house in places and that most of the shrubs simply had to go, along with the rotting "railroad ties" in the front.

Whatever you do though, make sure you read everything carefully...or get someone you trust go through the documents. You don't want to sign off on it, and then find yourself getting shafted later. I should also stress that a home inspection is a good idea.

oh trust me it will have a walk through, with my parents helping me with the paperwork and the such...

As for furnishings...I'll be moving into a SMALLER place then my current apartment, but the plus side is I can paint it what ever color I want, as well as make it any way I want.

I think I'm going to be sacrificing 2 inner walls to make my living room and kitchen into one BIG room (living room is tiny kitchen is HUGE). Also knock out the wall between the 2 bedrooms (also VERY small) and make it into one big bedroom.

in reguards to yard work...theres actually not alot of land (fine for me) but there is a nice spot in the front of the house I plan on making into an herb garden, for shade friendly plant. Because there is a MASSIVE maple tree in the front of the house which faces north, and gets weird sun.
It is by snark alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of the coffee bean that thoughts acquire 'tude, the lips acquire mouthiness, the glares become a warning.

I discovered one of the side effects of owning your own place this week.

Saw True Blood, first episode of series two. Bit of a passionate embrace and a sensual neck-biting moment. Sure, attractive woman in the throes of passion, but all I could think of was that the blood was going to be a bugger to get out of the sheets.

            Congratulations.

I'm still looking for a place that I can afford and that is not trashed.

Bargains are out there...if you're willing to do a little work. I got lucky when I bought my house--the previous owners took excellent care of it (not so much of the yard though). There literally wasn't a mark in it. Other than having the furnace replaced (by the seller!), and having some outlets replaced, I've had to do very little. I still find it amusing that my mortgage payment is less than what some of my co-workers pay to rent apartments! Guess I happened to be in the right place at the right time

Seriously though, I plan on making some changes eventually. The "all-white" look has to go. So does the nasty carpet in the living room. For now though, I've been doing things in stages. Most of my effort has been put into getting the yard in shape. Next thing I plan on doing is to replace the crumbling porch steps. Then, as more cash becomes available...the sidewalk and driveway.
