  • Best weekend ever (note the sarcarm)

So I just hafta vent a little and I think writing this story down will make me feel better.

    Saturday
My grandmother isn't in the best of health and she suddenly called and said she wanted her family, so we hopped in the car and took off for NJ. Here's what happened, I'll go through my family tree.

Uncle 1: Has been in rehab for a few months and couldn't make it (that's news to us.)
Uncle 1's wife: Needs to clean her house (this woman has no furniture in her home, none. What's she cleaning!)
Cousin 1: Wanted to get attention so she attempted to commit suicide (she took 6 ibuprofins and called the hospital, that's barely enough to relieve a menstrual cramp)
Uncle 1's ex wife 1: Is in the hospital dying from cancer
Cousin 2: Won't speak to her mother because she thinks her mom is a whore. Can't be in the same room as her sister. Got into a fight with my grandmother earlier in the week and called my grandfather a kike. My gma didn't want her around. She showed up, started fighting. I threw her out after hurling a potted plant (her "herb garden" wink wink) at her head. It connected and she was whisked off to the hospital and was placed in psychiatric care.
Cousin 3: Won't speak to her mother because she thinks her mom loves cousin 2 more. Can't be in the same room as her sister. Whereas cousin 2 calls my gma too often, cousin 3 won't call her at all. Showed up, got into a fight with her sister, was thrown out.
Uncle 1's ex wife 2: we don't know where she is
    Cousin 4: in jail
Cousin 5: had to be taken to the hospital after his meth lab blew up the house
Uncle 2: suffers from depression. Showed up and slept the whole time.
Uncle 2's wife: got drunk with my mom. They had a good time
2nd cousin 1: a 60 year old man, sells drugs and is in with the mafia, brought us all a sample of his new product. He didn't make any sales. Besides that he's a great guy who likes to tell dirty jokes.
2nd cousin's son: Is apparently in Japan (yay for him)
2nd cousin 2: got into a fight with her boyfriend and didn't feel like leaving her apartment

    Sunday
So that was my mother's family. Here's my dad's.

My half sister called and said she needed to get her and her children away from her bf. The shelter would not send a car out to her home because the area is too dangerous. Our father and her mother would not speak to her because of all of her problems and I was her last hope. I drive all the way to Harper's Fairy to pick her up. One side of the mountain is nice. The other side is a trailer park. It's cousins married to cousins who are cheating with brothers who are cheating with mothers who are cheating with uncles. Fun means drugs, alcohol, running around naked and stealing railway carts and riding them down the mountain. Their neighbor is across the street with a four foot pile of empty beer cans and a shot gun. (he's actually very nice) My sister's bf had shown up. He was pissed at me and punched me in the face. I got pissed and knocked him to the ground and then knocked him out. (at least now I know I'm good in a fight.) I basically told my sister that she could come with me to a shelter, or the kids could come with me to the police station. She made the right choice, but wanted to be driven to a shelter 4 hours away so her bf couldn't find her.

And now I'm home. That was a great weekend. All I have to say is that my immediate family (my mother, father, and brother) are very well adjusted.

    Yikes!

Yes. The fact that you can communicate with others (us here at CS) at ALL means you are quite a BIT better adjusted than one would guess from that family tree. (Although riding naked down a mountain in a railroad cart has intriguing aspects........)

Anyway, hope grandma is ok, and you keep pluggin'.

Wow, just wow. I will agree that you seem very well adjusted for coming from that family.

That's for sure. Consider a script-writing class...you have quite a bit of material. Just remember to change enough details to make it fiction.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!
