So my nephews are staying with us for the week while their parents are out of the country. The Rex is 3 1/2 and is being potty-trained. Last I heard, he was doing pretty well but still wears a diaper at night. Problem is, ever since yesterday, he has had accident after accident. We have gone through all his pants and done laundry three times.
We're kinda at our wit's end on what to do because we can read the signs--we've seen many a little-boy-pee-pee-dance--but we can't make him go. When we ask, "do you have to go?" he just denies that he has to go and refuses to do anything even if we take him into the bathroom. Then within 10 minutes there's a mad dash to and an "I've had an accident!" from the bathroom.
We thought if we just took him into the bathroom at the first sign, pulled down his pants and put him on the toilet, we could avoid the problem but he just kept denying and fought pretty hard not to go. My sister was able to get him on the pot by telling him if nothing happened by the time she counted to 10, then he could just get off and it worked but, we're not sure that will continue working. One time does not equal a pattern here.
So, any suggestions?
