Not all well brands are good. Some of them are downright bad. Which is why bars use them as their wells....they are cheap.

Also, if you order a drink tall, make sure you know what that is. Not everyone does. "Tall" means that the drink comes in a taller glass with more mixer, but NOT more booze. Common misconception is that tall means stronger. It doesn't. It means weaker, more diluted with mixer.
Yeah, one bar I used to frequent used Old Crow as their well. Bleh. But, I'm poor, soooo...sometimes sacrifices have to be made.

Yes, I do know what tall is, which is why I recommended it and why I tend to order it. Sometimes I want to sit and sip several drinks and not wind up falling down drunk. Ordering tall forces you to take your time. "So, why don't you drink beer? That would be a solution!" Because I've tried and tried and tried, but every beer I've ever had tasted....ICKY. Even supposedly good Belgian and German beers. And wine puts me to sleep. YMMV, of course.

A glass. Ice. Dr. Pepper or Coke (I prefer Dr. Pepper, but don't know if it's available in Australia). As much whiskey as you can handle (I prefer Jack Daniels or Maker's Mark*). Slice of lime.
I've always been partial to Coca Cola and Dr. McGillicutty's Fireball Whiskey (never tried it wth lime, though). Coke with cinamon... I wonder why Coca Cola hasn't tried that combination of flavours yet?

It would be in a similar vein to the vanilla or citrus flavoured ones. I read somewhere that cola flavour is a mixture of cinamon, vanilla and citrus. (and that seems to be confirmed by the fact that different brands taste more or less vanillay, citrusy or cinamony)

Agreed on the Jagerbomb part. My two coworkers that tried it....well I have the pictures to prove it.

Yeah, I like sweet drinks. I've tried Smirnoff Double Black and Cruiser Blacks. They taste alright, but not as sweet as I thought. Thanks for the list everyone, that's a good list. A lot of my coworkers are into stuff like Bourbon and Coke or tequila, not so much beer.

            Heineken
            Bacardi Breezer

            This week I'm trying:
            Mill Street Organic

For those concerned about under-age drinking, the drinking age in Australia is 18.

(funyn story... growing up, my family were on great terms with the people who ran the local bottle shop. I'd go in there with my parents every second or third weekend. On my 18th birthday I went in by myself and bought some beer, and the store owner wished me a happy birthday instead of carding me.)

Whoops, forgot to mention that. Sorry if I scared anyone

But yeah, 18 is the legal age in Australia to drink, vote and do about another dozen things.

I told the coworker who helped me with a friend last weekend about my pledge to try something different every time I went out. He suggested getting me some cider . I decided I might get something next time...any ideas?

(what happened at the party I went to in the OP, was a friend of mine got very smashed. I kept an eye on her, but needed to pee, so I asked a coworker of mine who I very much trust to help me keep an eye on her. Come back, they're playing tonsil hockey. (she started it, NOT him) I left them for a moment, came back and discovered him waiting outside while she was in the loo. We got her out, sat down for a bit, then took a taxi to a shopping centre...he paid and I took her home from there...another taxi.)

Actually, there is a difference between a Lemon Drop and a vodka and lemonade.

Vodka and lemonade is just that, served over ice. A Lemon Drop is either a shot or a martini. It's made with citrus vodka, sugar, and lemon juice shaken over ice and strained into a sugar-rimmed glass and garnished with a sugar-covered slice of lemon.
Neither of those ways is how it was served to me, but okay.

Well, that is the classic Lemon Drop, but as y'all may know, there are often drinks served in bars that are called one thing that are actually something else. There are also drinks that have several variations (though I have never had a Lemon Drop that varied that much from my description, wherever I have been). Then, finally, you have the fact that there are some drink names that are used on a whole myriad of drinks that may have nothing to do with one another at all (i.e., Alabama Slammer, etc.)

In other words, there are tons of reasons why what you have had as a Lemon Drop does not jibe with the "classic" Lemon Drop. Personally, I do not have the knowledge or expertise to even try to explain why this may be, other than what I have listed above. However, I will tell you that webtender.com lists six different recipes for "Lemon Drop." So mind you, this is not just my opinion as a single bartender.

Jagerbombs are bad, so very bad

Various depthcharges can be fun, but also end in badness.

                          as for drinks, personal favorite
                          Bushwhacked:
                          makes 1 pitcher/jug
                          2 cups Vodka
                          1 cup amaretto
                          1 cup rum
                          1 cup baileys
                          1 cup kahlua
                          blend with ice.

Tastes like a milkshake but around 34% alcohol.

Warning: 3 pitchers in a night will not end well.
If I dropped everybody who occasionally said something stupid from my list of potential partners, I wouldn’t even be able to masturbate

I just realized reading this that there's only 3 mixed drinks that I like

                            Margaritas
                            Mojitos
                            Sangria

For whiskey drinks, I highly recommend Jameson Irish Whiskey. It's even decent straight.
Irish whiskey, I'm not so much a fan of, but I do like Old Bushmills and Michael Collins. Irish just seems much harsher to me that Scotch whisky. Probably the peating and all.

gin=juniper berries=pine trees, scotch=earthy, woodsy tones. Yeah, I can see the whole forest thing there.
Unless you get an Isla whisky, they tend to taste like Sucrets. And, unless it's Johnny Walker (don't get me started on what Diageo is contemplating), I won't drink blends.

Oh yes, but 20 shots of 54% alc./vol. instead of the usual 35%... That was a fun 4 day hangover (yup..., that night was 20 shots of this, so equal to 30 shots normally I guess plus 2 full bottles of wine, yeah... 19th birthday FTW...). Now my grandmother, she can do 15 shots or so and be *slightly* tipsy, hell once I caught her drinking slivovitz out of the bottle while driving... (yeah... bad bad idea)

Seriously? What kind of fucked up bartender/server was that? It's one thing to make an honest mistake ("I'm sorry, for some reason I thought you wanted it frozen."), but to change the customer's order because they're a chick? Stoooo-pid! Not to mention bad, BAD service.

There are guys who drink "like girls" and girls who drink "like men." My girlfriend's drink of choice? Ice water. So she can chase her straight shots of Cuervo!
