Yes, I said boiFIEND.
Some time ago (last week, I think.) I bought stuff to make Lasagna with. But wound up buying a GIANT container of sour cream that was on sale (Organic! For a buck seventy five! Woot!) later in the week.
So I asked the DataJager (the boi-fiend) to make Stroganoff. Yes, I realize that not only is it the middle of SUMMER (it's really a winter meal) but I also live in a DESERT.
The humour is not lost on me.
I just really like sour cream.
Traditionally, Stroganoff is NOT a one pot dish but The DataJager figured out how to get by that with, of all things, a can of beef broth.
One Pot Stroganoff
Serves Many (technically 4 but that's 4 heaping bowls)
1 small onion, diced.
1 can Beef Broth (plus equal amount of water)
1 lbs Pork Sausage (this was originally purchased for the Lasagna but he wanted to experiment. It was interesting at first, by the 3rd bite it turned into my preferred meat for Stroganoff)
1 (1lbs) box Rotini (the twisted pasta)
1/2 cup sour cream
salt, pepper to taste
Brown pork sausage and drain most of the grease off. Add diced onions and salt to sweat. Add uncooked pasta, beef broth, water and pepper. Cover and allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes or until pasta is tender. Kill the heat, add sour cream and serve with french bread.
Secretly, I think the Boi-Fiend secretly hates doing dishes. Thus his need to try to convert a lot of our meals into one pot wonders.
It was freaking tasty so I had to share.
