  • Michael Jackson Memorial Service

Usher singing "Gone Too Soon" & Jermaine Jackson singing "Smile" has forever changed the way I view those two songs. From now on whenever I hear those songs, it will remind me that MJ is no longer with us.
& how Jermaine Jackson could sing "Smile" & not break down & cry is remarkable to me. There's no way I could have done what he did & not end up in tears. It was really touching.

I wasn't a fan, but it was a lovely service. Brooke Shields, in particular, gave a very nice, touching eulogy.

I didn't see his memorial service, and he hasn't really released anything new in music in a while so I won't miss him a whole lot. But despite all the controversy and jokes surrounding him, he was very talented and gifted person in music and dance and for that he will be missed.

I was a HUGE Michael Jackson fan.

I set myself up at my computer precisely at 9am Pacific and sat and waited, watched everything I could, even through the delay. I don't think I stopped crying the entire time. As soon as I started to dry my cheeks, they'd show his casket or his kids or someone would say something particularly touching and I broke down again.

Al Sharpton...I'm not a fan of his. But when he told Michael's kids that 'there was nothing strange about your daddy' I smiled really big and cheered him on. And when Paris spoke about loving Michael so much and threw herself into Janet's arms...I couldn't help but exclaim 'Oh, sweetie!' and started to cry all over again.

Seeing the emotion on the Jackson family's faces and the performer's faces just really demonstrated the impact Michael Jackson had on so many lives all over the world.

Just thinking about him makes me want to cry. I told you...I was and will always be a true Michael Jackson fan.

I was very surprised to see how well-managed the MJ Memorial Service was. I know some people were expecting a circus but this was lovely. All the performers were properly respectful for such an occasion and the music was wonderful.

I had a problem with that shiny coffin. The huge mound of red roses on top made it look like something with strawberries that might have come from the dessert table provided by a caterer at a wedding buffet. It just didn't seem right to me.

Perhaps it's my own family's idea of propriety but we think that people should be buried in wood. The coffins might be modest pine. They might be rich and dark wood but they must be wood.

Paris's speech was very touching. This girl will have a long and hard row to how. She did a beautiful job of eulogizing her Father. I sincerely hope she will get the support she needs to grow into the beautiful and intelligent young woman she can become.

I had tears coming out of my eyes when Paris spoke about MJ. Of all the songs that were performed, I think the most emotional ones were from Stevie Wonder, Jermaine and when they did the "We Are The World" and "Heal The World" songs. The memorial was truly amazing and was something MJ would've loved if he saw it. MJ, you were one in a million, and you will always be THE King of Pop.
