so yesterday i found out i need minor surgery...heres the background

earlier this year i was doing a self exam and found a small lump in my left breast.

back in early june i went to the gyno and she felt it too, and recommended me to a specialist, and said "if you leave here remembering anything, its that its not cancer"

so i saw the specialist last week and they ended up doing a biopsy. they said when i was there they were pretty sure it was a fibroadenoma (benign)

i get a call from them yesterday and they said thats what it was, but cant rule out some other benign tumor, so they will have to remove it and test it. ive never had surgery before, closest thing was having my wisdom teeth put. ill pretend thats what its like. since i go home after the surgery lol. its a small incision, like i said its nothing major..

    fun stuff eh?
so once i can talk to my manager in my new store i can tell her, oh i need a few days off...kinda sucks but oh well gotta do it

All surgeries are a big deal, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Even "minor" surgeries like yours are a big deal. I'm not trying to scare you, just warn you. It will be a bigger deal than you expect. I know, because I had my gall bladder removed earlier this year. The surgeon said it was a very minor surgery (comparatively) but that it was nothing to take lightly, nonetheless.

My biggest piece of advice is to not rush your recovery time. My surgeon said I should be able to return to work at 5 days. I did, and it was awful. I could only work a half day, and the following day I didn't go in at all, because I was exhausted and extremely sore. Make sure you apply for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act); I believe that all employers who have a certain minimum number of employees (maybe 15, I don't know the exact number for sure, but it's not very many) must allow their employees to apply for FMLA in circumstances like this. You do have to have been working for them for at least a year and put in at least 1000 hours in the last year to qualify. Talk to your HR department about it.

I'm glad to hear that it doesn't seem to be anything too serious, at least! Keep us updated on how you're doing and GOOD LUCK!

Be sure you have someone there to drive you to and from the surgery, and someone to stay with you for the day and night.
