I am at the moment at my college roommate's apartment. I hadn't seen him in a year. I knew he'd been seeing his girlfriend for a while, and it turns out they're getting married! He showed me the preliminary design for the ring he's getting custom made for her (she knows he's getting the ring but the final look is going to be a surprise). I must say, it's QUITE impressive. And it'd better turn out good, seeing is it's going to set him back five grand. 
I'm happy for him. And this certainly answered the question that I wasn't going to ask ("so you've been with her for a while now.....").
