  • Bad, Good, Annoying.

    The Bad:

Now some of you may know about my back, some won't, so I'll allude, I suffer from intense pain, every. single. waking. minute.

I recently found out to what extent how bad it it.

    1. Left leg shorter than the right by 1/2 and inch (probably the original cause of my condition over long period of time, all my life really)

    2. A Defective part of my tailbone.

    3. Arthritis in my hips, the surgeon sauid he'd seen better hips on a 70 year old (and I'm only 23!)

    4. 2 curves in my spine, one 7 degrees (lower spine) one 8 degrees (upper spine)

So, that's the filler detail, the bad part is that I was supposed to be seeing a specialist today, to get some special shoe inserts or shoes so that my feet are level, but I got a phone call yesterday saying it'd have to be pushed back a month because he got it holiday dates mixed up (Not that I blame the guy for that, shit happens)

    The Good:

So I went to blockbuster today and ended up buying some DVD's, in possibly my best buy of the last few months, what did I buy? The Alien/Predator Total Destruction box set, all 8 films, from Alien to AVP2, all for the glorious price of....£20 (That's like £2.50 per film) AND all the Alien movies are the Directors Cut versions too.

    The Annoying:

It was as if Karma was trying to remind me that even the good things in life come at a cost, pretty much the instant i stepped foot outside the shop, it poured down, so much so that i was entirely soaked withing all of 2 seconds, it was as if I'd jumped in a pool or something.

On the spine curvature thing, I've been seeing a chiropractor who supports the Pettibon System. My neck had a funky curve to it that was causing serious headaches. I basically would have to use this tool to stretch the vertebrae in my neck, then wear these weights for about 15 minutes a day and it's changed the curve in my neck. I don't get headaches really anymore. A lot of my other physcial pain has gone away too. My neck is almost back to a normal curve and it's been less then a year since I started. Maybe it's something you and your doctor should look into.

I have nothing to offer except that I get where you're coming from. I have no idea how many degrees of curvature I have, but I also have a too-short leg, by 8 millimeters, I think. One of my hips is too high, and not due to the shorter leg. We're just crooked, but, hey, straight is boring. So when I hurt, it can remind me of you and I can send a good thought.

I used to have deep lower back pain, starting about 2.5 years ago. About when it started, I started seeing a chiropractor, who did wonders for me. He did help my lower back some -- turns out my hips have a tendency to "tip" one way (I can't remember in which direction right offhand) which makes it look as though one of my legs is shorter than the other when I lay down flat, although my leg isn't really shorter -- my hips are just tilted so that one leg rests above the other by about half an inch. He also helped with my neck problems; my first vertebrae is out of alignment, which causes migraines.

Interestingly enough, I had my gall bladder removed earlier this year, and my back pain has stopped completely. I haven't had a lower back ache since the surgery.
