  • If I hear that song one more time...

We blast the radio at work and sadly the only station that comes in clear is the modern hits station. We don't do country and the classic rock and hard rock stations go in and out all the time.

Well, every so often a song comes on and I just feel the need to smash the radio. These certain songs are worse than fingernails on a blackboard to me. I can almost feel my poor ears bleeding. Okay not that dramatic but still...
    Those songs are
-Single Ladies(Put a Ring on it)-Beyonce. Besides working my nerves cuz I'm not a big B fan(or Sasha Fierce or whatever) it's the lyrics that get me. It's like she's telling guys that suddenly women need to be "claimed". And when Wally world did their "check out Beyonce on wal-mart.com/soundcheck" thing THAT song was playing.

-That not my name- the Ting Tings.I swear half of that song she made up when they were recording.

-Last(so far) is What Hurts the Most-Rascal Flatts. Something about this song just rubs me the wrong way. have yet to figure it out.

anyone else just have that one or a dozen songs that gets on their nerves and wants it wiped from existence?

Any and all holliday songs, whatever joy they once had was beaten out of me by 2 years of working pharmacy where that stuff was piped in 24/7 on a short, repeating UNSTOPPABLE playlist every Christmas

That song is *exactly* why we don't have the radio on at work. Not the song itself...but because one of my idiot co-irkers would gladly listen to it the entire day in the office

I don't listen to Top 40's for that reason. I'm not into the songs, they don't appeal to me. I listen to a station that plays a little bit of everything. I heard once, in order:

        Bohemian Rhapsody
        Funky Cold Medina
        Devil Went Down to Georgia

Sometimes they do play Top 40. I'll listen to it if it's not too bad. Barring that, I change the channel or listen to the CD player (Ozzie's on permanent stand by).
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

I remember when I worked at the ice cream stand, I got sick of Paris Hilton's song and Hips Don't Lie. So glad they don't play those really anymore.

I don't listen to radio anymore for that reason. It hardly plays good songs.

If I hear the damn Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus one more time on the radio, I swear I will beat the raging hormones right out of those twits.

Although most radio sucks, that song that goes "Chris Brown should get his ass kicked" is always a hit for me!

We're allowed to listen to radio through our computers at work, so long as it's not loud or offensive. Here's my preferred station:

I once got stuck on hold and had to sit through Achy Breachy Heart 17 times....

I was about ready to shove the pen through my eardrum so I could go home sick....

This is why I don't listen to the radio much! Too many repeats, UGH! My eardrum-puncturing songs are:

Jesus Take the Wheel, by Carrie Underwood. I have never liked her music, and that song played on 4 DAMN STATIONS for MONTHS during the Christmas season. I HATE that song!

I'm Like A Bird: There are no words for how much I hate that song.

The Pina Colada Song. Riiiiiight. You decided to cheat on your girl, then when you found out that she was trying to cheat on you but you both ended up with each other anyway, that made you all lovey-dovey again! AAAARRRGH! *smashes radio*

Btw, has anyone here read Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs? It's sooooo funny!

You know, Top 40 radio kinda has its own self-created dilemma. A guy in radio told me this: When you ask someone what they dont like about Top 40 radio they say: "They play the same songs over and over". When you ask them what they like about Top 40 radio they say: "They play the songs I like to hear".

I listen to songs that most people around me can't stand. To me, that's good because if a song I like gets popular then Top 40 radio will play the living crap out of it and turn it out. I really used to like that Shinedown song "Second Chance". Now that it's gotten really big I'm starting to get tired of it. Same thing with "Beverly Hills".

I listen to newsradio all day. I hate that stupid Marineland commerical. Damn jingle hasn't changed in more than 10 years!

I have to jump to mute my MediaPlayer every time it comes on!

Dammit - it just came on again!!! Arghhhh - like an icepick to the eardrums!

just have to say Nurian, Devil went down to Gerogia is one of my favorite songs i just cant help it, i love the song

But songs that get on my nerves, I have plenty:

-mylie cyrus and jonas bros, sorry wayyyy too Disney for my taste
-Simple Plan - not quiet hardcore or whiney enough to even make it to emo.....and i dont like emo
-I like Weezer, but they overplay Weezers songs like no tomorrow
-Again, love Billy Talent, new album is incredible...but they'll kill some of those songs for me aswell im sure

-Plus, the radio stations were starting to kill my love for Michael Jacksons older classics. Thank the radio gods, they finally cooled off with the MJ hits.

But you know, Im listen to everything....
Sorry, my love cannot be bought. And if it could, you obviously don't have enough in your account to do so.

Showtunes? Stereotype much? I actually listen to a bunch of 365 stations. I've been on a real rock-a-billy kick lately. But streamin' XRT is my mainstay still.

You know the old joke "What do you get when you lock up a jew and a gay man in a hotel room for the weekend? A musical!"
