  • How can I get rid of permanant marker on a marker board

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of permanent marker that is on a whiteboard?

Goo-B-Gone was suggested elsewhere but that isn't working.

I've heard nail polish remover which I might give it a try but anyone have any other suggestions short of sulfuric or hydrochloric acid?

Try janitorial supply companies. We have a white board in the warehouse and a plentiful supply of permanent markers. There are products that contain the same solvent used in the markers to help you get rid. Works great - leave it on a few minutes.

      This worked for my hubby:

Cover the permanent marker marks with dry erase marker. It should just wipe off as normal.

I actually tried that, I even let it sit for a while and it didn't work BUT....

I raided our janator's closet and pulled out a few things to try.

I sprayed it with peroxide spray and it didn't work.

Then, I sprinkled Ajax on it and then sprayed the peroxide spray on it.

That worked perfectly, even too well if you ask me. No scrubbing, just let it sit for a minute and then wipe it off and now I've brought back life to this whiteboard!!

OFF. Yes, the stuff that you spray for bugs. My dad taught 4th grade for years and graded all his papers with permanent markers and the kids thought it was a riot to write on the board with those markers. Not to mention that my dad woud do it too. He swore by the stuff.

            Toothpaste.

when I was younger and not smart I wrote my name on the back of my closet door with a sharpie or something, and about 5 to ten years later got it off by using toothpaste

It's says on the label it gets rid of stains

You could try the dry eraser wipes. Those you can really scrub them out.
