  • Stray Cat!

    This adorable gray cat has been hanging around my house for the past week, "talking" to my girl cat through the window (she's indoor only). She's spayed, but it seems like they like each other because he's been by every day. I thought it was cute that she has a little boyfriend!! Today, I took a closer look at the cat through the window and saw he didn't have a collar and was skinny. When I put some food out for him he ran up to me and practically ate it out of my hand. He is REALLY skinny He must be lost or a stray, but he can't be feral, right? He is much too friendly and trusting. I posted an ad on Craigslist, but so far nothing. I haven't seen any signs up in the neighborhood either.

    Does anybody have experience with stray cats? I was wanting to know if he was neutered (or if it's even a boy!). I think I could catch him pretty easily since he's so tame, but I don't want him to run away either

    If only I could have another cat! I already have two and I have enough trouble petting them at the same time Anyone in the Southern California area lose a really beautiful cat with mint-green eyes? Alternatively, anybody in the area wanting a new addition to their household? I guess I'll keep feeding him for a while and maybe put up some posters if I can ever find my stupid camera. But he is really beautiful. It's so sad that he has to be outside all alone ;__;

    Well, an intact male is fairly obvious...look at the hindquarters and there are visible fluffy testicles. Neutered male you can tell also, but it's hard to explain...should be able to find a pic online to compare to.

    No easy way to tell on a female that I know of, since they don't notch ears and I'm not sure how much cats scar or if the cat would let you at their tummy enough to check. But...at least telling male or female isn't too bad with a cat who's mature past a point.

    We recently had a little black and white stray show up, who promptly got named Moo. After a week or so of stuffing his face every chance he got, we were able to tell he's a bull. He's getting to be a lovely sleek thing now....

      Our first cat was a stray who showed up in our driveway one morning and refused to be scared off. He wormed his way into the house pretty quickly. He wasn't real skinny or anything; he was very friendly and he was fixed, it was pretty obvious he had been taken care of. Don't know if he was lost or dumped, but my mom put an ad in the lost pets section of the paper and got no response. Well, she did get a few people offering to take him, but no one actually claimed to be the owner. By then she spent $100 on getting hime checked out at the vet so she decided we were keeping him. The vet said he was at least 5 when he first came to us (later he said he was maybe older than he originally thought) and we had him 7 years.

        I have a beautiful black stray cat that adopted the family about seven years ago and hasn't left since. Looking at him now, one couldn't tell that he's a stray -- a coward but lovable.

        I'd take the kitty if I could but there's no more animals after this cat.
        Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.
